Unravel Coffee Steamboat

2304 Apres Ski Way, Steamboat Springs, CO

Crema's Take

Unravel Coffee is a charming Steamboat Springs spot that moonlights as a tavern, creating a uniquely cozy atmosphere perfect for lingering over creative drinks like their standout matcha fizz and dreamy chai. While opinions on their traditional espresso drinks vary, the real magic happens with their signature creations and the genuinely warm, attentive barista staff who seem genuinely delighted to connect with guests. It's the kind of place where a skeptical visitor becomes an enthusiast, and where even picky coffee drinkers find themselves surprisingly impressed.

Cute place. It is a tavern at night. Nice atmosphere. The coffee is terrible. Very watery brew with a weird twang to it. Do not recommend.

Obsessed! My chai was dreamy and the chia seed pudding hit the spot. My husband—who’s super picky, gave his flat white a 10/10 (high praise coming from him!). Shay, our barista, was the best, hooked us up with awesome Steamboat recs and made the whole experience even better. Can’t wait to come back!

While I was visiting family, I went to the local ski lodge and came across Unravel. I looked up the reviews and was a bit hesitant to try it, but I usually don’t take online reviews too seriously. To no one’s surprise, the reviews were wrong. Our drinks and snacks were better than other well known chains and the staff were friendly and helpful. Don’t always believe what you read. I highly recommend checking things out for yourself.

I’ve been to Unravel a couple times now, I’ve tried the Earl Grey Latte which could very much be my new favorite. The matcha frizz which I was sceptic at first but turned out to be amazing!! The avocado toast was nothing but amazing, really good sourdough. And I’ve also had the coconut chia pudding that is the perfect light breakfast. On top of that, everyone in the staff is really nice and friendly. Wish they had longer hours cause we really need a good coffee shop like this at the base area.

I expected this place to be trash based on the reviews, but we had such a delightful time. Like good, normal coffees/lattes and a staff that seemed thrilled to see us and chat (probably because the rest of you have scared the crowds away). Worth the short walk up the hill, because when I was buying gloves at Christy’s there was a man who asked where he could get a decent coffee and the cashier said there wasn’t a single good cup of coffee in town. To be fair, she might have been just as vindictive and scathing as those posting Unravel reviews, but she seemed otherwise friendly so I’m inclined to believe that there aren’t great gondola-area options. As such, I believe (and that’s why I’m here) that Unravel is the best coffee spot near the ski village.
