Crema's Take
“Bread Club Taos is a beloved neighborhood gem where the pastries and house-made breads (especially their legendary Blue Corn loaves) inspire genuine devotion, and the kitchen elevates casual breakfast fare like elevated BLTs and generous gravlax plates into something worth planning your day around. The knowledgeable owners create an unhurried, welcoming atmosphere perfect for lingering over coffee and pastries in their outdoor seating, though regulars know to arrive early before the homemade baked goods sell out. It's the kind of place that makes visitors want to come back again and again, even traveling from across the country.”

I came in with willingness to forgive in my heart, as their 1st 4 Blue Corn loaves had filled me with childlike wonder that could lead me a man to Jesus. One morning, I got one that was collapsed on the inside & unsliceable. I thought maybe the poor flavor was because of this. I came again, and told them about the tragedy and that I was willing to try again. This one wasn't collapsed! A flurry of emotions filled me neck high, on the way home- i anuck a nibbled. Something felt off- but it was because it was cold, right? Only a nibble, I told myself. We got home and toasted 2 slices- it was sliceable! Again, the dangling treat of gluten free hope glimmered in my eyes for the 1st time in years. Bing! Chimed the bell warmly on this cold fall sunday morning. We added some butter, but something in my heart knew already. Bland. Strange. Like a betrayer amongst childhood friends inside me, touching my mouth. I'd let them into my home again, listened when they said nothing had changed, paid another 14$ for something i'd have to see everyday for a week & cry as i slowly ate. They had said i could bring it back if it was off, but no, i'd had enough. We would have to accept that things would NEVER again be like those 1st 3 loaves that had inspired us to start baking. Had it all been a lie from the start?! Had i messed up & deserved this?? No, no, we had pictures... i still catch myself looking at them on lonely nights. Thinking about those 3 tender, sweet, loaves. I wondered if they had been really gluten free,or what had happened. I still do. What is a bread club without its bread? How can i trust the 14$ pastries now?
The gravlox was amazing! The salmon portion was generous, and the other items really complimented it. My husbands waffles were great, too!
This place is a gem! Front desk staff was incredibly kind and helpful, and the food was great! They elevated the humble BLT and my husband loved the tacos he got. For pastries I was pleasantly surprised by the gochujang chocolate chip cookie! Who knew those two would work so well. Hope to stop by again in the future!
We arrived on a Sunday around 12pm and almost all the baked goods were sold out 😢 with the exception of a couple cookies and pizza rolls. We loved the cookies we tried, they tasted very homemade and right out of the oven! And we ordered off their breakfast and lunch menu. The portions were not huge, but they were enough to satisfy and packed with high quality ingredients and flavor!
Fabulous pastries, scones and bread! Knowledgeable, helpful owners made deciding what to get easy. We have successfully eaten our way back to Michigan. 😊 There is a menu for dining in (or outside) that we will have to try next time we're in Taos. Do stop here and pick up some deliciousness - you won't be sorry! 💕
