Merit Coffee

4615 N Lamar Blvd, Austin, TX

Crema's Take

This Austin favorite pulls in crowds for their espresso-focused craft and thoughtful signature drinks like the Dulce latte, where baristas deliver impressive latte art even with alternative milks. The aesthetic space buzzes with energy and welcomes both coffee enthusiasts and laptop workers, though timing matters—arrive early or off-peak to snag a seat and avoid the friendly-but-stretched barista team. If you're seeking elevated, carefully made coffee in a vibrant atmosphere, Merit rewards a strategic visit, especially if you can catch it during quieter hours.

Good coffee. Place was cool but very crowded and took longer than expected. Good spot to try out, but make sure you catch it at the right times. Probably not the best place to get work done or sit with friends as it’s a little bit crowded.

The coffee was very nice, I got their Dulce signature latte. I am a fan of latte art, was lucky enough to get a good one with oat milk. They have really nice atmosphere and work environment and a lot of charging ports. Will definitely visit again.

Really nice and aesthetic coffee spot. Really busy though so it’s hard to grab a seat unless you’re fine sitting outside. Baristas are friendly but a bit slow. Was waiting for my drink while they were chatting in the back sipping on their own drinks. Coffee overall was pretty mediocre. Nothing too special especially for the price.

Merit coffee is probably the best coffee I’ve ever had. This is coming from someone who was a barista for over 4 years and tries a new coffee shop each time I travel as a flight attendant. I ordered the shaken maple pecan and I wanted to come back and order another when I finished it. The barista was very nice and I waited less than 5 minutes for my order. The atmosphere is very chill and laid back, there were a lot of people reading or doing work on their computers. I can’t wait to come back to Austin so I can come here again!

Merit always seems busy, which is good if you’re a coffee shop. Busy means fresh coffee and it also showcases that you’ve got a good product. I was initially impressed with their good service and the staff. Gabe introduced himself to me and had a cool personality. I got the latte and my wife got the cappuccino. She thought her cappuccino was a little sour in comparison to many Austin area coffees. My latte was good and seemed to have consistent flavor all the way through. The atmosphere was busy, people lined up both inside and outside, so getting a seat took a little effort, but really I enjoyed the process and the coffee was quite pleasant. Review photos taken on Fujifilm X-T5 @ 13mm f/1.4.
