Buck Russell's
1137 Greenleaf Ave, Wilmette, IL
Crema's Take
“This charming spot attached to a pizza shop and bakery delivers genuinely excellent sandwiches and pastries in a fun, old-school diner setting that feels like a neighborhood institution. While the pricing skews high and service charges catch some off guard, the quality of their smashed burgers, creative sandwiches like the Turkey Jeweler, and standout baked goods keep regulars coming back—plus they offer classes for folks wanting to dive deeper into their craft. It's the kind of place that works perfectly for a casual meeting, a family lunch, or grabbing something special before a trip.”

3% service charge added on causal restaurant... Dam, lost me forever! 21 dollars for a smash burger with fries... not cheap more importantly not great. Salad good, kids tenders good too. Got me once, sorry not in a rush to get back.
Food was awesome, the burger was perfectly smashed and delicious. The fries were great too, love the Buck Russell’s sauce. Very cool spot that’s attached to a pizza shop and bakery. My only complaint and why they didn’t get 5 stars (would have given 4.5 if it was an option) is they need a smaller fry option. They only have a basket of fries which is way too much for one person with the double smash burger. They need to offer a burger and fries for $20 or less, $22 for burger and fries is just too much. I added a soda and it was over $26 for lunch! Please put a burger and fry combo on the menu for $18 or $19 and I’ll be coming all the time. I will say this is the best burger in Wilmette by a mile, even with the new competition in town. Keep up the good work!
We got some delicious sandwiches and then a little treat in the bakery. Everything was delicious and this was a good last meal before boarding our flight home.
Food was fantastic! Desserts were mouth watering! Cute place! Love that they do classes!
Takeaway: Incredible sandwiches in a fun, old-school diner package, but definitely pricey for what it is Context: Dined-in for lunch What I Got: Turkey Jeweler (9/10) One of the best turkey sandwiches I've ever had. Warm shaved turkey with an incredible, just sweet and tangy enough spread with peppers that add that extra zing . Really just one of the best sandwiches I've had in the area - especially considering just how simple it was. However, for ~$14, it really was quite a small sandwich. I still think it's probably worth it, since the sandwich itself really was quite impressive, but the decor is actually a bit misleading in this sense, since you're expecting something a little more substantial with the image that it gives off.
