Crema's Take

This charming Indian Village spot radiates a genuine neighborhood warmth, with a gorgeous historic building that invites you to linger over exceptionally crafted lattes—when the baristas are on, they really shine. You'll find everything you need for either a quick caffeine fix or a slow afternoon of work, from excellent breakfast sandwiches to pastries, though the experience can be inconsistent depending on who's behind the espresso machine.

We came by after having brunch at Norm's Diner. A female barista made our lattes, and they were EXCELLENT. She was friendly, and the ambiance was nice.5 stars P.S. The male cashier was not at all friendly. He barely spoke and just looked at us with a blank stare when we were ordered. Sigh. One thing I noticed is the constant scratching of his beard, and the last straw was watching him blow his nose without washing his hands afterwards. -10 stars

Why is the music so loud? It’s a cafe. Not a nightclub. People come here to do work. Also, $7 for an oatmilk latte and the quality is worse than what I’d make at home. I live in the area and wish another place would open to either make this place step up their business or close up shop. The workers are nice at least.

My Favorite Red Hook; gorgeous old building with inviting interior and decor- but you continue to return for the caffeine made in any style or size the body desires! The baked goods and sandwiches are delicious as well! Streetside parking usually available across the street in West Village- one of detroit's best & safest neighborhoods ☕️ . I love the Cafe Miel n idunno if they still have the weird charcoal Latte! One of the only places i ever seen it at..

Great neighborhood coffee shop. Decent selection of beverages and small food menu - but has all you need including breakfast sandwiches. Service is always friendly and efficient. Cute and comfortable atmosphere but relatively small.

. The Red Hook Detroit (Indian Village) Stepping into The Red Hook in Indian Village, I was immediately struck by how quiet it was – almost eerily so. It definitely threw me off, as I was expecting a bit more of a bustling coffee shop vibe. Beyond the subdued atmosphere, what really stood out was the price: $4.50 plus tip for a small black coffee felt quite steep. It was one of those "oh, okay... wow" moments that makes you double-take. While the space might appeal to those looking for a very calm spot, the value for money, especially on a basic coffee, felt a little off. If you're after absolute tranquility and don't mind a premium price tag for your daily brew, this might be your spot. Otherwise, be prepared for a very quiet experience and a slightly lighter wallet.
