Crema's Take
“Perched on a mountaintop plantation with sweeping ocean views, this working coffee farm offers an immersive experience that goes far beyond your morning cup—their educational roasting tours and hands-on demonstrations make it a destination unto itself. The espresso and pour-over drinks shine with the distinctive character of their own Kona coffee, one of the world's rarest and most prized varieties, best enjoyed on the breezy terrace where you can watch the process unfold. Visitors rave about arriving early to avoid crowds and making it a leisurely morning ritual, where the combination of exceptional coffee, genuine hospitality, and stunning Big Island vistas creates something genuinely memorable.”

We were there Feb19 to get a vanilla latte. We were there once before on a different trip with no issues. This trip I ordered a vanilla latte extra hot for my wife. We were there about 915 a.m. there was only two other ladies together with a young toddler. No one else around. I ordered from the young man who appeared disinterested in engaging in a customer service role. I brushed it off and got my drink for my wife. It didn’t have a lid on it so I asked if I could get a lid. He pointed to the side and said they were “over there” in a direct response to my question. I took a sip of the latte and it had very little to no vanilla syrup flavoring in it. I knew my wife wouldn’t like it so I stirred it thinking it was not mixed well. It tasted the same. I asked the person if this was a vanilla latte. He said yes. I said it didn’t taste like a traditional vanilla latte. He said do you want me to put some more flavoring in it. I said yes please. As I was walking over to the counter I saw him manipulating the cash register and then I saw a $1.57 appear on it. I said “your going to charge me $1.57 for flavoring”? He said that’s the way it’s set up. I told him never mind and turned and grabbed two sugar packets to add some sweetener to it. I walked back up to the counter and said to the young man, “ you know how to lose a customer for good”, just charge him $1.57’ for flavoring the customer just said he couldn’t taste. The man could of cared less, there was no attempt to use some customer service skills to try and remedy the complaint. We will never be back to this place again. Apparently they don’t instill customer service values in the people they hire. Sad!!!
The Experience: This is a standout coffee farm visit. We arrived right when they opened at 8:00 AM to beat the crowd, which I highly recommend. The View: The location offers a fantastic view of the coast while you enjoy your morning coffee. Parking: There are plenty of parking spots, making it an easy, stress-free stop. The Coffee: Their "Trellis Grown" method (growing coffee on wires like grapes) clearly makes a difference. Tasting Notes: I tried the Estate Trellis Reserve (pour-over) and an Iced Americano with their signature 100% Kona Trellis Grown beans. Both were excellent—bold and chocolatey notes, yet incredibly smooth. Purchase: I ended up buying the Reserve Bean to take home because the tasting was so convincing. Service (Shoutout): Even though we didn't do the formal tour, the manager, Yana, was incredibly helpful. She took the time to explain the roasting steps and the differences between the beans in detail. Her passion for the coffee really added to the experience. Verdict: Come early for the best views and breakfast, and definitely ask the staff to explain the trellis method—it changes how you appreciate the cup!
We had a coffee roasting tour with Brennan. He was extremely educational. The roasting hands on experience was specially useful and memorable. Learning that Kona Coffee is the third most expensive coffee was eye opening. We were enlighten on the correlation of acidity and elevation. Highly recommend.
