Crema's Take
“I appreciate you sharing this, but I need to flag something: Gigi's Cupcakes appears to be primarily a cupcake bakery rather than a coffee shop, which makes it outside Crema's specialty focus on coffee discovery. The reviews also reveal some consistency issues with both their core product and service, particularly with custom orders. If you're looking for coffee recommendations in Blacksburg, I'd be happy to help you find actual specialty coffee shops in the area instead. Do you have another café you'd like me to profile?”

The cupcakes were really bad. I tried the oreo. The cake itself was good, frosting was sickly sweet so I took it off. The cookie dough cupcake was either supposed to be actual raw dough or it was underbaked, I’m not sure. The red velvet cake was ok, frosting too sweet. Chocolate with chocolate frosting was the best one I tried. The berries one was odd that it had lemon cake rather than yellow/vanilla. Also the strawberry jam inside the berry cupcake was very artificial tasting and texture. Overall it was a lot of money to pay for 6 cupcakes when I threw out most of them without finishing the whole thing. I probably should not sample 6 cupcakes in one day, but this is what the Patriots of ‘76 died for.
I have seen this place forever but never stopped. Found out they had gluten free options so decided to give it a try! I was excited! However I was disappointed. The emphasis seems to be on the tall mound of buttercream or cream cheese icing on each cupcake rather than the short little flat cake. It was also extremely expensive. We paid $50 for a variety of about 6 cupcakes (a mix of regular and gluten free). The buttercream was too sweet for me but I know a lot of people like it. Please give it a try, though, because you might like it!
We cannot say enough good things about our cake and cupcake vendor! We received so many compliments from our guests on how absolutely delicious everything was. You could truly taste the quality—every bite was rich, fresh, and clearly made with top-notch ingredients. On top of that, the service was flawless—professional, responsive, and genuinely kind throughout the whole process. They really listened to what we wanted and brought our vision to life beautifully. Our wedding cake turned out gorgeous—it was almost too pretty to eat (but of course, we did, and it was amazing!). Some of our favorite wedding photos are with the cake, that’s how stunning it was. Highly, highly recommend them to anyone looking for something that tastes as incredible as it looks.
$5 seems kinda pricey for a cupcake to me, but they are what I consider "boutique cupcakes" and priced fairly for what they are. Definitely for a "treat yourself" or celebrate moment, not everyday. The staff was friendly and the shop was very clean. It looked nice inside, with everything arranged in a visually appealing way. It is nice to have this here as an option. I would go back again for cupcakes for future celebrations.
Similar review to another failed wedding in September. We chose Gigi’s early in our wedding process, paid in full on the day we signed our contract. Had multiple phone calls confirming our order all the way up to the week before our wedding. Our order was supposed to be delivered at 3pm on our wedding day. Our coordinator waited until 3:30/4pm to start calling inquiring about our order. Took several calls and was told the baker quit and they did not have our order. My coordinator asked them to bring something asap- they arrived after 6pm. Gigi’s brought a $12.98 Walmart cake and completely frozen and the wrong flavors of our contracted cupcakes. We spent days after our wedding attempting to get in touch with the (now previous owner) Shane. We finally received a callback and were told we would be fully refunded from him “personally”. After over a month of fighting we received around $200 (half the amount of our order). We are not longer pushing to receive any additional funds because it is not worth the fight. But this review serves as a warning to the community and brides out there. I would NOT RECOMMEND in anyway to use this business.
