Superbloom
2688 E Mission Bay Dr, San Diego, CA
Crema's Take
“Perched right on Mission Bay in a converted visitor center, Superbloom rewards you with sweeping water views and a genuinely calm, inviting atmosphere that's perfect for lingering over coffee or hosting a casual meeting. The spot shines as a family and dog-friendly gathering place with solid breakfast sandwiches and traditional coffee drinks, though opinions on the coffee quality itself are mixed—some find it good while others wish it lived up to the scenic setting. It's the kind of place where the experience and location matter as much as what's in your cup, especially if you're looking for a relaxed Saturday afternoon escape with the bay breeze.”

The café is located on Mission Bay just off the Clairemont Dr exit, right on the water with a beautiful view of the bay. It used to be the visitor center, and now it’s a great spot to relax with plenty of outdoor seating overlooking the water. I ordered a large iced vanilla biscuit latte and a large iced vanilla latte, both made with breve. The drinks were good, though a bit on the pricey side. Their menu has a wide variety of options, including different lattes, matcha drinks, breakfast, and lunch items. It’s also pet- and kid-friendly, which makes it a great place to meet friends or just come by yourself to enjoy the sunshine and the view. ☀️🌊🐾
My panini was edible, the service was of the disgruntled teenage bent—been there, done that. The coffee was good, and the atmosphere alone would make this a five star review if it wasn’t insanely expensive (even for San Diego), and the aforementioned items. Lovely lighting, tables, outlooks to the bay, and lots of friendly doggos :) It closed rather early; I got the feeling that people would have stayed longer if given the chance. Great place for an exploitatively expensive snack, glass of wine, and/or coffee.
JunkMD uses Superbloom Cafe for our monthly staff meetings. The food is great, especially the breakfast sandwiches! The atmosphere is calm, inviting, and vibes on the bay.
Lovely coffee shop with a great view- unfortunately I have tried their coffee multiple times and tastes really bad :/ , it was hard to drink! I was expecting more since a simple drip black coffee is about $6. Most items on the menu are pricey. The good: salad with arugula and chickpeas was delicious, also the iced matcha and zucchini loaf were great.
Our first time eating here. We had relatives visiting with a baby and we had a dog. This was an outdoor cafe that served drinks and food items. We went late Saturday afternoon just before sunset. The food was mediocre and expensive. It is a nice place to enjoy sunset and drinks & host visitors in town.
