Crema's Take

Matryoshka is a vibrant community hub where Abbey's intentional curation shines through in everything from seasonal creative drinks (think fall's beloved "Creator of the Night") to fun collaborations and eclectic, colorful decor that makes every visit feel special. Beyond exceptional specialty coffee and matcha tea, they've built something rare: a space where you genuinely feel like a regular from day one, complete with thoughtful touches like free parking, mug discounts, and the kind of hospitality that inspires people to visit from out of state just for their birthday.

This is the coffee shop where everyone feels like a regular. Their seasonal drinks (my fave is the creator of the night in the fall) are always so yummy and not too sweet. And they serve cup noodles which is a 10/10! The vibes are great, the coffee is great, the matcha is GREAT, and they have a porch goose. Everyone should go!

Creative drinks, fun merch, free parking! Discount when you bring your own mug! Abbey, the iconic owner, has created such an intentional community. I love the collaborations Matryoshka hosts with other small businesses, like Conny and Jonny donuts and Horse Girl Vintage.

I live in Georgia but found Matryoshka on TikTok last year and made sure I stopped in when I visited for my birthday. They gave me glitter in my coffee & a cute birthday card I have framed in my house! I made sure to return on my next trip to Nashville. It’s truly one of my all time favorite coffee shops because of the amazing drinks (I worked from there and had two last time because they were so good), the atmosphere and the amazing staff. Legit this place & its culture live rent free in my mind. I even knew they were closed to celebrate the holidays some of this week (WELL DESERVED!) from a state away. They not only communicated it, but over communicated it. Anyone who showed up without checking hours on a holiday week first maybeeee should consider that next time!

I visited Matryoshka shortly after they opened and really enjoyed the coffee and vibe, but found the space just a bit too confined. Upon visiting recently, I was happy to see that the seating area has greatly expanded and the coffee was as good as (if not better) than I remembered. In a city that is becoming increasingly saturated with "coffee destinations", Matryoshka stands out thanks to its playful approach to coffee, creative menu, and super personable staff. It's a great reminder that stellar coffee doesn't have to be synonymous with a cold, industrial garage aesthetic. I hope this shop continues to get the customers and reputation it rightly deserves.
