Crema's Take

Playdate BLI is a wonderfully affordable indoor play haven for young kids in Bellingham, where parents can actually sit down with a decent cup of coffee while their little ones burn energy in a dedicated play space. The staff here are genuinely warm and accommodating—they'll remake your coffee if it's not right and even replace a dropped hot dog with a smile—making it feel less like a commercial venue and more like a friend's living room. It's the kind of place where you'll find families lingering on rainy afternoons, kids absolutely exhausted and happy, and parents actually getting a moment to breathe.

Final review: we’ve tried to love this place. It truly is one of the only affordable places in Bellingham for kids to play when the weather is poor, but I can’t in good conscience continue to support this establishment. My autistic child was assaulted by a child almost twice his age, and was removed for defending himself. He did not hit, he did not yell obscenities—he simply pushed a violent child away from him and was punished for it. According to their policy, staff are to patrol the play structure at all times. In all the years coming here, I have never once seen a staff member patrol the structure. The day of the incident, the manager chased my child in circles without notifying me of any issue until I approached her and asked her what the problem was. She told me my child was refusing to follow instructions, and would not exit the play structure. 1) my child is on the spectrum and is very much taught to not engage with strangers. 2) he ran away from her because he was petrified that a grown adult who is NOT his mother was chasing him around. Their policy also states that the PARENT is to remove the child, and after “cooling down” the child is able to re-enter. Three policies blatantly not followed. By the time I was able to get my son out of the structure, she informed us we had to LEAVE. Not take a break or cool down—LEAVE. My son was a victim, and he was forced to leave, along with 5 other children we paid entry for. I contacted the owners of the establishment for a refund because we had a rather large group with us, spent hundreds of dollars, and were forced to vacate. The OWNER sided with his manager and decided to ignore my request and elected to not respond to my emails about the incident. We had 3 written statements from other attendees saying they physically SAW my child get hit, and that my son did not engage other than to move the older child away from him. The manager lied, they broke 3 store policies, and were so disgustingly non-professional about the entire event that I will NEVER step foot in this facility again. They are discriminatory, understaffed, and poorly trained. Shame on the owners. I’ve added the email from the owner, completely disregarding my incident report and making false claims about my child based on the manager’s report (the same manager who did not see the incident take place, yet was so keen on falsifying reports). Original review: As a restaurant owner, I am not typically one to leave bad reviews—but I absolutely have to address something that happened today. I purchased a $16 cheese and fruit plate that was full of old/bruised fruit. I kindly asked if they could remake the plate because my children have sensory issues and wouldn’t eat the fruit. When they remade it, they gave us less than HALF the food that was on the original plate. When I asked them where the rest of the cheese was, they said “the cheese assortment is at random, that’s just how we do it.” It was insanely busy and I didn’t want to cause any delays for other families, but I am SO disappointed. They served me slivers of apple peels on the second plate, FOUR crackers, and a small pile of Swiss cheese that my children obviously wouldn’t eat. I feel like they did this deliberately, as the employees looked annoyed I even brought the plate to their attention. For $16, food should be fresh and stored properly to avoid bruising and spoiling. They would not give me a refund. Though my kids love this place, I don’t think we’ll be visiting again because of the blatant disrespect. I spend hundreds of dollars here a month, so I expected a little more kindness and care. The first photo is what they initially served me, and the second photo is what the replacement plate had on it.

We did love the big toy! We got along with our 1.5 year old and he had a blast! The toddler are is just really boring and not really "clean" for little babies. The coffee we order has to be remade twice and it still wasn't good.

Clean and fun! They are really, really nice people too. My son dropped his hot dog on the floor and they brought us a new one for free! Had such a good afternoon here.

I love that there’s an indoor play place here in Bellingham! It’s very affordable too. We were the only ones here but my daughter had so much fun running around. She got a waffle with blueberries and it was actually really yummy! The man working was very kind. We will definitely be back😊

Great place, love the price for all the kids get and they are always exhausted afterwards from having SO much fun! Friday nights are great from 6-8 you can drop your kiddos off and they get to play Laser Tag, have Pizza and soda; a chance to meet new friends and give us parents a break to go get things we need def perfect for around these holiday times to sneak in some Xmas shopping if you need! The staff even when totally overwhelmed are always so sweet and on it! Appreciate you all! And since there are not many places to bring kids inside to just have fun at a decent price this place is the BEST!
