Tamper

Crema's Take
“Tamper is a Medford gem that takes its coffee seriously—reviewers rave about their consistently perfect hot lattes, noting they're among the best in the Boston area with that rare combination of smooth, balanced flavor and never-burnt espresso. What really sets this place apart is its intentional community vibe: they actually discourage laptops at weekend booths to encourage real conversation, and their simple but delicious food (think perfectly executed oatmeal and egg plates alongside fresh scones) keeps both studying students and neighborhood regulars coming back. It's the kind of bustling café that feels like a third space rather than just a caffeine pit stop, especially if you appreciate thoughtful espresso drinks alongside meaningful human connection.”

The most incredible vibes and my favorite place to work from home! They don't allow laptops at the booths on the weekends so people can truly connect in conversation, which says a lot about their mission and value. 5 stars, always!
I love this place!! I'm not a Tufts student, but I do live in the neighborhood nearby and I've been coming here to study since I moved to the area. The food is simple and delicious (although I miss the old egg sandwich recipe sometimes). Plenty of options for vegetarians. I really love the cold brew and the hot mocha especially. Staff is friendly and it's a great place to hang out with friends or get some work done. Glad I found this spot!
matcha latte was kinda bad... maybe it was the homemade oatmilk? food was fire. vibes were so good.
This cafe has consistently perfect hot lattes. Their oatmeal and egg and mash plates are also delicious. Best latte in the Boston area. Perfectly balanced, never burnt, always smooth. Atmosphere and service are great, too. My favorite spot so far, and I'm an avid cafe hopper. Photos are all of lattes from separate visits in the past few months.
Bustling place. They have fresh scones and cookies, and lots of savory sandwiches and such to eat. They use MEM tea, and have a bone broth too! There is a restroom, which is great, and the bathroom was wide enough for assistive devices and easy for me to flush (some newer handles kick back at you and this one didn’t). Everyone was friendly, and there is ramp access which I super appreciate. There are places to sit but it was so busy that I took mine to go. Parking is right out front (just don’t park in the bus lane). The chocolate chip cookies were some of the best I’ve ever had.
