Jeri Nims Soda Shop
945 Magazine St, New Orleans, LA
Crema's Take
“Tucked inside a New Orleans museum, this vintage-inspired soda shop captures nostalgic Americana with its retro decor and counter-service charm, though don't expect a full menu—it's more grab-and-go convenience than destination dining. The gumbo and hot items earn genuine praise for quality, and the homemade pastries and desserts are genuinely delicious, though prices lean toward the touristy side for what's essentially a café with limited options. It's the kind of place where the atmosphere and location matter as much as the food, perfect if you're exploring the museum and want a quick bite with character rather than culinary ambition.”

We planned to have breakfast here since it's inside the museum, in the back, near the storage lockers. You order and pay from the limited menu, then pick up your order at a different window. The breakfast burrito was good and a nice light breakfast before a day of exploring. Nostalgic old dinner setting with low-top, booth, and high-top seating. Uninspired service. Pricy, but it is part of the museum—no refills on drinks. It’s not a bad option if you choose to get breakfast at the museum.
Almost no vegetarian options unless you want a $14 premade salad. Most items aren’t priced. Finally got up to order and the woman told us “no shakes!” despite the place being designed as a retro ice cream shop. Grilled cheese and “soup” came with unmarked greenish watery sour soup, not tomato as one would assume.
Like others have said, the price is kind of high for counter service, but the food quality was great! We got a beef patty melt and the gumbo. Super friendly service, short wait time, and charming atmosphere. We didn’t get to try any desserts but they had a display of several delicious-looking treats.
Small cafe in the WWII offer grab and go and also a few hot items. Delicious desserts served here as well. Felt it was overpriced, but I mean touristy city and in a highly trafficked museum
Wow, people are rating this place like a real restaurant... I don't know, but compared to themed restaurants inside themed parks, this place really wasn't that bad. I was really digging the decor and the staff was quite friendly. I came here for a quick refuel (of soda... it's a soda shop right?) after running through the first building in the WWII museum and found it convenient to be directly connected to the biggest souvenir shop in the museum. Most importantly, I didn't felt like I was getting severely price gouged as I do at most themed park restaurants. If people are really starving for some good food, Cochon Butcher is just 2 blocks east. It's not like the museum has restriction on in and out privileges.
