Crema's Take

Davenport Coffee Lounge strikes that rare balance between a serious espresso destination and a genuinely welcoming hangout, where La Marzocco pulls are handled by quick-moving baristas who somehow maintain impeccable service even during the rush. The vibe is relaxed and unhurried—perfect for lingering over a cup or catching up with friends—and the consistently friendly staff make everyone from students to neighborhood regulars feel genuinely appreciated. Whether you're after a traditional cappuccino or one of their specialty drinks, you'll find yourself in a clean, cozy spot in the heart of NE DC that locals return to again and again.

I went in on a Saturday morning to grab a quick coffee and ended up staying longer than I planned. The place has a relaxed vibe, not too loud, and the staff greeted me right away. I ordered a medium latte and a blueberry muffin. The latte had a smooth taste and wasn’t overly sweet, which I appreciated. The muffin was fresh, maybe a little crumbly but still good. There was a short wait since they were busy, but it moved pretty fast. Seating was comfortable and clean. Overall, it’s a solid neighborhood coffee spot I’d come back to when I need a quiet place to work or catch up with a friend.

Very lovely cafe, open to students and non-students alike! I’ve come multiple times over the past few months, and the service has always been impeccable. Even in rush hours, you can tell the baristas put in the work to make drinks quickly and efficiently. Nice place also to study, a bit loud with the music and talks at time but remains a very cozy location. I always take their matcha latte, it’s by far my favorite drinks from them, and you can get a small discount if you bring your own cup! #yaysustainability

Awesome cafe in the heart of the NE. This cafe is probably my favorite in the glover park / Tenleytown / cathedral heights area. The students pull espressos out of a La Marzocco, move quickly, and it’s super fair priced (especially for the city). Food is probably the weak point, but they offer pastries, bagels, and yogurts. The food is optimized for students so it’s “grab & go” style. But the location of the cafe is right beside New Mexico Ave, which makes it accessible to non students too (like me!)

They get 6 stars (yes, I said 6-six out of five stars) from me mostly for the good service I received from the staff. Very friendly and approachable. I actually really enjoyed this cute little spot. It's nice campus lounge at a beautiful location. I favored the cookie butter latte (I like it sweet, so if this is you, you'll like this one.) Yes, certain things are under repair which is evidence that it has been a well used and preferred location for many people and more investments should be considered to care for it. I have not been here during the high traffic times between classes, so I cannot speak to that, but I would come back just because of the good experience with those handling front end of the cafe.

Coffee is always on point, staff are always friendly. Yes, sometimes they are busy but only because everyone on campus wants a cup of their amazing coffee! The space is clean and cozy. This is the only place within a pretty wide radius where you can find single-origin Ethiopian coffee. I cannot say enough good things about this place. Keep doing what you're doing!
