Crema's Take

This minimal San Jose bakery punches well above its weight with European-style pastries that prioritize taste over variety, earning devoted fans who rave about the signature Almond Croissant and delicate lemon meringue tarts. The no-fuss storefront keeps all the attention on what matters: impeccably crafted baked goods that lean sweet and indulgent, paired with a thoughtful coffee and specialty drink selection that complements rather than competes. It's the kind of hidden gem where a small, carefully curated menu means everything that leaves the counter is genuinely worth your time.

Went here based on the reviews and I’m so glad I did! The storefront is small and unassuming with a no-fuss setup so the focus is entirely on the fantastic pastries. The danish of the day was strawberry passionfruit and oh my goodness, I wish I had gotten two! Highly recommend stopping in if you’re in the area!

I've been watching too many baking competitions and crave good European desserts. Lemon maraigne tarts and chocolate dome with chocolate raspberry vanilla centers were both fantastic.

Pretty decent place with nice coffee/drinks selection and pastry selection. Pastries are more on the sweeter side and very few, 4, that are savory. Croissants are a bit bready and lacks the richness you’d normally expect from freshly baked croissants. The other pastries are decent, though again, mostly sweet options. Wouldn’t make this a daily/regular spot but not bad to go to every now in then if you’re in the area and need a quick coffee/pastry.

Favorites: Almond Crossaint & Avocado Chocolate Coffee H I identify gem in San Jose. It is a minimal but amazing bakery. They have limited options but everything tastes delicious there.

Bakery with little complexity and absolutely amazing taste. On your first visit, definitely get Preligen's signature Almond Croissant .. doesn't skimp on the almond filing inside and the outside has a surprising nutty crunch ... Ham & Cheese croissant is also great, tasty cheese and thick ham on the inside and again, a great crunch on the outside. In fact, all of croissants at Preligen's are not oily and have a great outside crunch. You can tell that we're hooked and although need to travel 20+miles round trip to get there and back, it's ALWAYS worth the trip ... [hours 7am-3pm, closed on Wed / Thu]
