The Commons
7900 Mack Ave, Detroit, MI
Crema's Take
“The Commons is a refreshingly inventive hybrid space on Detroit's east side that pairs excellent, fairly-priced coffee with a fully functional laundromat, creating a genuinely welcoming community gathering spot where you can actually get things done. The airy, well-designed space transforms what could feel like a chore into a genuinely pleasant experience, with friendly staff and locally made treats that keep people coming back whether they're there for a quick caffeine hit, a working session, or to knock out their weekly laundry. It's the kind of neighborhood gem that solves real problems while serving genuinely good coffee, and reviewers consistently praise it as an uncommon find that actually delivers on multiple fronts.”

Best little kept best secret on the east side great coffee, friendly staff, and good food amazing environment
I usually hate laundromats because they’re dark and muggy, but this place is a game changer. First of all, the machines actually work properly. My clothing was clean and dry in a reasonable amount of time. The facility over all is very clean and a nice environment. Second, they have amazing work spaces. Spacious cafe and fast wifi. Everything i could possibly need to work from home while doing my laundry. Lastly, the staff was just lovely. Very kind and you can tell they take pride of the multipurpose space. I will be returning for all of my future laundry needs!
Uncommon. A fast and fresh coffee shop with friendly staff and a spin cycle! Yeah it’s also a laundromat so if you have a load of laundry and a good book come here and be ready to sip some great coffee while your spin cycle finishes. I think my favorite part was how friendly everyone was.
Really cool spot! Combination of a coffee shop/laundromat with locally made treats and some of the MOST AFFORDABLE prices I’ve seen in today’s economy. The space is wide open, chill, and they even do events upstairs sometimes. So blessed to be able to stop by here. Simply astonishing! 💕 ☕️🧺🧼
This place has 3 ways it serves the neighborhood: There is a cafe with drinks and to-go style food that is well-made and fairly priced. It has a laundry mat. And there is a nice sized upstairs space for community needs and fun stuff like ballroom dancing. People behind the counter have always been nice. The space is clean and well-lit. Free street parking is on Mack and Beals. It is a comfortable place to visit.
