Crema's Take

Boats & Beans brings a refreshing alternative to chain coffee culture in Oakland, earning serious love for their creative seasonal drinks like perfectly balanced pumpkin spice lattes and their standout sparkling yuzu iced tea that nails the sweetness-to-tartness ratio. While the experience can be hit-or-miss depending on which barista is behind the counter, the best visits feature genuinely sweet staff who add thoughtful touches like a sprinkle of cinnamon to your chai latte, paired with their notably sturdy, artfully designed straws that show real attention to detail.

Customer service experience not consistent and some baristas are dismissive of customers orders and make the drink order different than requested without informing customers the customer unless you held them accountable.

I ordered an iced chai latte and it was delicious! I loved that my server added cinnamon! Also, your straws are fantastic! They are sturdy plastic straws, and are brown colored with black dot decorations on them. Very unique! Well done!

So excited to have another coffee shop in the area that isn’t Starbucks. I got the seasonal pumpkin spice iced latte and it’s delicious—i was worried it might be too sweet but it’s perfectly balanced and strong!!!! excited to have this in the neighborhood :)

I recently visited a charming café and enjoyed everything it had to offer. I particularly liked their new drink, sparkling yuzu iced tea, which was cool and refreshing. The balance of sweetness and citrus from the South Eastern Asian fruit was delightful, and the drink tasted healthy without being overly sweet. The outdoor seating area, with its potted plants and garden-style ambiance, provided a pleasant setting to enjoy the drink while feeling a gentle breeze. The café's proximity to the bay trail also offers a leisurely walk along the water. I am looking forward to returning to sample more of their offerings.
