Crema's Take

Black Horse Coffee is a beloved neighborhood gathering spot in San Luis Obispo with a genuinely charming outdoor patio that locals keep coming back to, where the staff's warmth and friendliness matches the inviting atmosphere. Their espresso drinks and traditional coffee preparations are solid, though opinions vary on consistency—some rave about their bagels and pastries while others find the baked goods occasionally miss the mark on freshness. If you're looking for a relaxed place to linger with good coffee, friendly faces, and a real sense of community, this is where San Luis Obispo comes to sit and stay awhile.

Great local outdoor patio for coffee, the breakfast panini has too much aoli. It would be better with none. Staff very friendly

Adorable Cafe with super cute staff! BF and I each got coffee and a pastry between shopping. He got a warm meat and cheese croissant, I got a delicious blueberry muffin and a monkey bread which were both delicious! 100% will come here again when we're back in town!

Baked good didn’t look or taste like the were made that morning. I got a chocolate croissant. The croissant wasn’t bad but didn’t seem fresh as what I was expecting. Also had a cappuccino which was terrific. The atmosphere was pleasant but the staff were very focused on talking with each other. I sat outside with my dog and that was pleasant.

Wonderful outdoor seating and lively indoor seating. I prefer my drip coffee dark and rich and like most small coffee shops, theirs was a bit too bright for my liking. Service was fantastic. We ordered a small hot chocolate for the kids and they were happy to split it into two cups and add whipped cream to both

Finally bagel cream the best in my journey.. fresh nice warm and served with genuine love and compassion. America is great why does anyone want to make it great again. Eric the owner with some good college kids working and he is the most amazing guy. Someone called asking whether it was a tee place as jn golf tee and he wondered whether it was better to offer him tea. He offered me spinach and feta cheese roll.. again good . Bri is the lady learning and studying to be a civil engg and is going tk be a very good engg, I will hire her. And then there is the silent barista who only drinks tea.. Jen ..sturdy focused , studying .. Amazingly beautiful place opening early to feed hungry travellers Thank you for being you
