Java Cabana
2170 Young Ave, Memphis, TN
Crema's Take
“This Cooper-Young neighborhood fixture masterfully blends nostalgia with creative energy, serving silky espresso drinks like their signature monkey latte alongside thoughtful pastries and light bites in a warmly vintage space that draws everyone from cyclists to families. The vibe here is genuinely laid-back and welcoming—patrons and staff alike create that rare coffee shop atmosphere where you actually want to linger, whether you're stopping by for a perfectly steamed cappuccino or settling in with avocado toast and a view. It's the kind of place that feels like a local secret but generous enough to make every visitor feel like they've been coming for years.”

Biked over to the Cabana because I ran across them on-line, locked up my electric to a telephone pole in front & walked in. Ordered a Cafe aw lait w/ French vanilla & cinnamon, and a banana bread. Wanted a blueberry muffin but settled for a banana, could not taste the vanilla, should have ordered a double shot. The very nice girl forgot my cinnamon but finally remembered and put some in for me. I get my blueberry muffin, Cafe au lait & snackin bacon at Dunkin, for the same price of 10.50 because of senior discount. Cabana still gets a 3.5 because it is one of the rare coffee shops with an ash trey on a table outside!
Stopped in this morning for a monkey latte and a loaded avocado toast! Both amazing! Love the aesthetics of this place! We will definitely be back! Keep on groovin! 😊
Amazing little cafe with awesome coffee and a cool vibe! I had the smoothest cappuccino which left me wanting another! Service and patrons were super friendly. If you’re in the Cooper Young neighborhood, stop by this cafe for a beverage and a little dessert!
Very quaint and homey coffee shop. Thank you for supporting workers! I had to get me a hot chocalate. Was good with the steamed milk.
The old Memphis favorite is finally back! Java has been resurrected, and, while it looks very similar to the old Java, there are changes. The place is furnished similarly to before, but somehow there is much room. While it's not a sharp, sterile environment, it's much less cluttered than the old Java. The staff are friendly and quick. The old Open Mic on Thursday nights is back as well! From 7-10 you can hear from artists many and varied, and the standard of the performances is generally better than many open mics I've attended at other venues. I will say when it comes to vegan options, there's essentially nothing, so I can't imagine eating anything here, and that also rules out several of the drinks too. It's not going to keep me away from Java, but if they had vegan options I might be a more frequent customer. All in all it's great to have Java back, and I expect to become a regular.
