Crema's Take

The Breadboard Restaurant is a beloved gathering spot in Ashland where locals and visitors linger over generous breakfasts and better-than-average coffee on a scenic patio, though be prepared for weekend waits and the occasional inconsistency in execution. The cheerful, attentive staff and family-friendly vibe make it worth the visit, especially if you grab a table on the patio to take in the beautiful views from the parking lot—just maybe skip the Eggs Benedict and opt for their reliable omelettes instead.

I was a little surprised to be told there's a 10 to 15 minute wait for a table at 12:30 on a cold Wednesday in December. About eight minutes later I got a text my tablet was ready, but then it was another ten minutes before my drink order was taken, five more minutes for my food order and another 15 minutes till my food arrived. But it was totally worth the wait, I ordered the Eggs Benedict and a cappuccino, the eggs were cooked to perfection and the wonderful hollandaise sauce was dripping over a nice thick slice of Canadian bacon and a fresh muffin. I will be coming back, but I will head over before my appetite can't stand the wait. (Edit) I went back again this morning and the Benedict was even better then I remembered. Perfect pouched eggs!!! No wait time at 11:15am on a cold Tuesday, my drink order was taken as I found my table only 3 quick minutes for me to order and a standard time for the food to arrive. I am thinkin it was just a very buzzy day my first time there, so I raised the service from 3 to 5 stars. Definitely coming back for that Benedict!!!

I chose the eggs benedict because it was labeled as a customer favorite. It was honestly the worst one I have ever had. The hollandaise sauce tasted off. The home fries were good at least. My husband got banana nut pancakes, which we normally love, but these tasted like medicine.

We heard a lot of good things about this place, so we decided to stop by. Parking lot is on the side of this restaurant, and the view from the parking lot is very beautiful! The restaurant is small, warm, and cozy. Menu is very simple, but still have variety. We ordered mountain man, eggs Benedict, ham with eggs and toast. Food was decent and flavorful. Our server was very attentive that they kept refilling our coffee and water. The only bad side was that we were sitting closed to the back door that goes to the patio, and people kept going in and out from that door. There were often time that the door was stuck and it got cold in the room. However, I will still come back for more breakfast, and would just request to sit else where.

While the view is great from the patio, the service was just okay and the food left something to be desired. Even if I had not substituted bacon on my Eggs Benedict, it was the most pathetic one that I have ever seen. My boyfriend’s supposedly “hot” pastrami sandwich did not fair much better—there was more produce than meat and it was lukewarm at best. We will not be returning.

Helpful, cheerful, friendly staff, very attentive. Omelette was good. Better than average coffee. Patio eating area outside. There’s still an egg up-charge as of a week ago, though store prices have come down, not so sure it’s necessary anymore, but forewarned is for armed.
