Royal Ground Coffee
1127 Solano Ave, Albany, CA
Crema's Take
“Royal Ground Coffee offers a reliable workspace with solid bones—plenty of outlets, wifi, and a nice split between indoor and outdoor seating—but the coffee itself tends toward the forgettable, with reports of burnt notes and inconsistent preparation that don't justify the premium pricing (large lattes at $6.50). The pastries lean utilitarian rather than exceptional, and service can feel indifferent, though it remains a decent spot if you're primarily looking for a place to settle in with your laptop for a few hours rather than seeking standout beverages.”

The coffee and snacks are passable, though overpriced. It's a good location and has outlets, wifi, and outdoor seating. The coffee is ...well.. it's coffee. The service people are asleep at the wheel. Several times I ordered a decaf cappuccino, and each time, when I asked if what was made was in fact decaf, was told he's not sure, and would remake it. Their baked goods are either pre packaged or not fresh. But overall it's a decent enough place to sit and work.
Great place to get some work done (plenty of outlets). Indoor and outdoor seating. Coffee and pastries were good but it’s definitely on the expensive side (a large latte is $6.50)
Worst coffee Ive had in a while. They forgot my vanilla syrup in my latte. Staff seemed very annoyed overall. I ordered a breakfast burrito to go with my coffee and they handed me a microwaved frozen burrito I probably could’ve got from a gas station for $1. Needless to say I will not be back. For $15 not worth it at all!
Been a couple times and it’s fine. However I did want to warn others that if you order one of their fruit smoothies, they’ll just blend one of those bottled Naked smoothies with ice. Literally cracked one open right in front of me and poured it straight into the blender. I don’t think they have any actual fruit. Was appalled I spent $7 on that.
The croissants here are like supermarket croissants. Edible, but without joy. The coffee is similar—mine had a burnt undertone. The atmosphere is fine, but could be improved with some aesthetic attention. The location is great, and the service too.
