Crema's Take
“Tucked into Kearny, Julia's Cafe brings authentic Peruvian cooking to life with dishes like hearty sopa de gallina and deeply satisfying traditional sandwiches, all prepared with genuine passion by Peruvian cooks who understand their craft. The warm, family-friendly atmosphere makes it perfect for everything from a leisurely Sunday breakfast to company celebrations, and the staff's attention to detail ensures every visit feels genuinely welcoming. Whether you're lingering over traditional drinks and pastries or settling in for a full meal, this spot feels less like a typical restaurant and more like gathering at someone's table who actually cares.”

Stopped by recently because the place looked inviting, and we noticed the word “cafe” in the name so we assumed it was more of a café setup. It’s actually a restaurant, but we still wanted to support the business and ordered drinks (both of which were good). The only negative was the service. While we were there, the server got on the phone and spoke loudly about how people “only come in to escape the cold and don’t order anything.” Considering the place was empty when we arrived, and we had ordered drinks and stayed only about 10 minutes tops, this felt a bit rude and made the atmosphere uncomfortable. I hope the customer service improves as it would make new customers feel more welcome and likely to return to try the rest of their menu.
I visited this restaurant on a Sunday for late breakfast and it did not disappoint. The Peruvian sandwiches were so tasty and filling! I also had a sopa de gallina which is a traditional dish in South America and it was amazing, especially during a cold day. I will be back to try the entrees:)
Amazing service, and the food was delicious, they pay attention to every detail, Definitely coming back with more friends and family
Held an annual company dinner at this restaurant , was amazing from the food to the customer service. We will be back for future events thanks!
There are many Peruvian restaurants but Julia’s Cafe is one of my newest favorite Peruvian food in town. The food is definitely authentically made by a Peruvian cook that understands the passion of culinary through Peruvian cuisine. Even down to sauces and spices you can taste some authenticity. We often get catering when we have a get-together or a birthday and they often times accept despite not having delivery drivers sometimes. I’m grateful for the owner and his service and for food. Everyone should give them a try and have a taste for themselves. 🇵🇪
