Perennial
401 W Franklin St, Chapel Hill, NC
Crema's Take
“Perennial strikes that rare balance between serious coffee craft and genuinely welcoming space, where quality beans and house-made syrups mean you're getting complexity without bitterness, whether you're ordering a straightforward latte or their more adventurous signature drinks. The plant-filled room with its warm indie vibe and excellent baristas (regulars rave about Devin and Julia) makes it equally suited for deep work sessions or catching up with a friend, and their specialty drinks like the lavender honey iced latte prove they're not just coasting on good espresso.”

We love this shop and always stop in when we are in town. The coffee has a full-bodied flavor without the bitterness you find at some chain shops. I love their latte with an extra shot for a bit more coffee flavor. My only note is that I really wish they'd open earlier on weekends. It's odd to me for a coffee shop to open at 9 am. I guess it's because we're in a college town?
A great coffee shop and worth the visit if you’re in the area and especially if you need a place to work. I like the ambience with live plants around and a few tables. The coffee itself is pretty good, I have gotten a few Cortado’s and flat white and never been disappointed. Also got a latte and it was good as well, but I can’t remember the flavor. The staff can be somewhat hit or miss in terms of how warm they are, but generally pretty good. Parking can be a challenge as you might have to park a bit of a ways and then walk in.
Good coffee! Loved the vibes inside, lots of plants 🪴 and people working/studying. Good tunes list as well.
Terrific coffee shop! At a time when most coffee shops rely on artificial syrups and stale beans, Perennial has chosen quality above all else. Friendly staff, high quality beans, and house-made syrups make this place stand out. I had the citrus earl grey latte, and it was excellent. This is easily my new favorite coffee shop in the area.
Great spot for studying or meeting a friend. Devin and Julia are so friendly and excellent baristas!! The lavender honey iced latte was perfectly balanced and worthy of recommendation and a second vìsit. Definitely a destination for those traveling through or if you're in the Hill for a while.
