Came here a bit before noon and beat the real Friday crowd. Staff was friendly, food was great and we sat inside and while being a little smoky it was nice. Delivery of our food to the table was pretty fast too.
Guglhupf Restaurant & Bakery in Durham, NC is an absolute standout. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is warm, inviting, and thoughtfully designed—comfortable, stylish, and perfect for slowing down and enjoying the moment. The service is exceptional. The staff is friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming without being overbearing. You feel taken care of from start to finish, which makes the experience that much better. The food and drinks are outstanding. Their fresh matcha is top-tier—smooth, vibrant, and perfectly balanced. The pastries are incredible: baked fresh, beautifully crafted, and full of flavor. Every bite reflects real quality and attention to detail. Guglhupf nails it on every level—service, atmosphere, and execution. A true 10/10 overall experience and easily one of the best spots in Durham. Highly recommend.
This is one of my favorite places in Durham. I meet up with friends here monthly for breakfast. We always get fancy coffee drinks and sometimes oatmeal/chia or a croissant with scrambled eggs. The staff are lovely. The vibe is incredible whether you sit indoors our outside. If you’re outside in the cooler months, they have blankets and propane heat warmers. Parking can be a bit tricky. I recommend taking the street spots or those on the other side of the restaurant (near dumpsters). The bakery is also delicious to visit.
This was a great brunch spot. We ordered the fall omelette and avocado smash Benedict for food and a pumpkin pie latte and iced matcha for drinks. All items were fresh and appetizing. Lines seemed long but they were moving and the servers were also quick with bringing the food. Id suggest securing a table while waiting in line.
Great place with great food. Very interesting how this restaurant is arranged. For me that is more like a cafe style. You can order food at the window with a cash register or from girls nearby with a device and pay for your order right there. Your order will be brought to you by a waiter and just like in a cafe, you choose the place where you want to sit. I like it very much! We didn't have to wait long for our food and coffee, even though the restaurant looked crowded. I really love croissants and I have to say that almond croissant was surprisingly exactly what a croissant should be - soft inside and crispy outside. The coffee was also very tasty. Kippered Salmon was amazing! I will definitely come back to this place for dinner.
