Crema's Take
“Joie COFFEE in Seattle's Ballard neighborhood has built a devoted following around their creative signature drinks, particularly their banana crème latte with its standout silky foam and unexpected matcha-banana combinations that keep regulars coming back. The baristas clearly know their craft—they're attentive to details like ice levels and execute more ambitious creations like their Vegan Vietnamese Latte and Mango Sticky Rice Matcha with impressive precision, making the experience feel personalized rather than rushed. It's the kind of place where people drive 30 minutes out of their way for a drink, drawn as much by the thoughtful execution and warm staff as by the Instagram-worthy aesthetics.”

The concept is cute and the place seems clean! If you go for the aesthetics and order something, I highly recommend asking for light ice (they didn’t ask about ice level). I don’t know if they made a mistake with our drinks but both my husband and I had a cup filled 75% of the way with ice left over after what felt like 5 sips. The drinks were good but not the best I’ve had which was a bit disappointing because of the price (it’s ~$2 more expensive per drink than comparable cafes in the area). Both the drinks and cafe are very pretty tho!
I go here for the banana creme latte and the matcha latte with banana creme. The banana foam is so yummy and really makes the drink standout. The matcha flavor itself isn’t strong but still balances well with the drink. It’s a small grab-and-go coffee shop with limited inside seating (benches).
The Vegan Vietnamese Latte was off the charts PERFECT. The barista (Annie?) knew exactly how it would taste, and I was very impressed: She hit it perfectly!! Please see the 2nd post from today about the Banana Cream - Matcha Supreme that Annie whipped up with great care and creativity!!!
I frequent this place all the time as I live in the Ballard area and it’s delicious every time! Every time I try a new latte I enjoy it and even my former barista friend (who is normally a stickler) absolutely loves their coffee. The decor is adorable! I am not a “bot” or whatever the influx of other reviews try to imply. The staff is sweet and efficient and they always ask my milk preference which I appreciate!
I drove over 30 minutes to come here and it was worth the drive. The staff were super friendly and helpful as I couldn't decide on what to get. I ended up getting their Mango Sticky Rice Matcha with oat and condensed milk. Perfect drink for a summer day!
