Crema's Take
“This intimate Monterey tea haven is a genuine refuge for those seeking authentic, thoughtfully-sourced teas rather than coffee shop trends, with a knowledgeable owner who treats every visitor like a friend worth getting to know. The sprawling selection spans traditional to herbal blends, and the staff's passion for tea shines through in their personalized recommendations and willingness to let you explore by scent before committing. It's the kind of place where you'll linger over a proper cup and actually want to come back, especially if you appreciate unhurried conversation and genuine expertise.”

Shopped there several times in past few months. They have myriad teas. In past purchased teas and tea making implements. Woman at counter polite and knowledgeable, informative and inviting. Came by last weekend, a out 40 minutes before closing and perused teas for purchase. Woman at counter in conversation with 2 young male friends. She did not greet me nor could she be troubled to interrupt her conversation to help old fat guy (me). Seemed kind of snooty attitude. Ignored for about 10 minutes then left. Won't be back. Too bad. Adding to review. Agree with response from owner. Probably got her employee on a bad day. Recently went to Salinas location and woman at counter was great! Knowledgeable about some teas without being overbearing and quick to admit that she didn't know everything. Enjoyable scintillating and informative conversation. Highly recommend.with slight diminution 1 star for bad day.
My husband and I loved the great selection of teas and herbal teas. Ask the friendly barista for a recommendation! She gave us some fun ideas. I ended up going with one of their herbal teas made of dried fruit! It was very unique and delicious.
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Fantastic tea spot with incredible service! Gold Lead Tea & Spice is an absolute gem for tea lovers. The menu is massive with an overwhelming (in the best way) selection of teas, including black, green, white, rooibos, and herbal blends. If you're not sure where to start, you're in good hands. We were lucky to be helped by Avery, who made our experience amazing. She was incredibly helpful, friendly, and super patient as we tried to narrow down our choices. She even let us smell different teas to help us decide, which was such a thoughtful touch. Thanks to her, we ended up with teas we truly loved. The indoor space is spacious, clean, and relaxing, and there's a beautiful patio if you prefer to sit outside. Whether you're a seasoned tea enthusiast or just curious, this place is worth a visit!
Went for a midweek getaway and decided to stop by Carmel. I knew I wanted hot tea, not a trendy ice or boba spot, and found this lovely gem. I was impressed by the tea quality, the excellent customer service, and great conversation. The setup was beautiful, and they even offer select dishes from the restaurant next door—which were delicious. Overall, it was a great experience. Highly recommend!
The lady, who appeared to be the owner, was friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about the tea she sells. She offered my sister and I a couple of kinds of teas to smell. I decided to buy a 1 oz. bag of the Cinnamon Orange Spice, which the lady said should make about 7-8 cups of tea. Looking forward to trying it soon!
