Bluestone Lane

Crema's Take

Bluestone Lane brings an Australian coffee perspective to Long Beach with a La Marzocco machine and thoughtful espresso drinks like the magic and flat white, though quality can be inconsistent. Tucked in the Westin hotel lobby with solid pastries and light food, it's a pleasant spot for a quick meet-up, but be warned: they close early (often by 11am) and staff tends to shut down ahead of posted hours. If you catch them on a good day, you'll taste what inspired their Sydney roots, but nearby shops in the area might be worth exploring if timing doesn't work out.

Skip this one… they close at 11am; I walked up to the counter at 11:02 and was greeted with, “it’s 11:02 we are closed.” I thought it was a joke as they had nothing cleared and pastries were still out. I said I was only getting regular coffee and the response was “it’s 11:02 we are closed.” There are several local spots within a block of the hotel that have much better service and options.

Not comparable to the coffee shops within a few blocks. Recommend taking a walk if you have the time. Otherwise this place is ok. Hotel staff typically closes up 30 min early, so don’t wait until 12pm if you are a late riser due to work/travel schedule.

Coffee was pretty good, pastries and the burrito (with vegan sausage) were great, was nice taste of what you can get in Sydney (average coffee in Sydney can be excellent). The issues I had was that the service was slow and when I ordered a bambicino for my 3-year-old, I was unceremoniously handed just a 16oz glass of cold milk, I know that's not a bambicino or babycinno so I cancelled that order. Somehow that rubbed me the wrong way because this is an Australian franchise in the US and they were clearly not giving the authentic experience or even doing what is advertised on the website menu.

Drove 30 minutes to get a promised "Australian Coffee". My expectations were high, after 3 weeks in California tasting the worst coffees daily! Ordered a Magic, temperature was perfect but bitter tasting coffee. Team were friendly, slow service - maybe I just chose the wrong day to visit. Loved that toast and jam, or Vegemite is on the menu 🙂

Great little Australian inspired coffee shop in the Westin hotel lobby. La Marzocco espresso machine and delicious pastries. Offers classic drinks inspired down under like the long black and flat white. Appropriately third wave. Caffeine just kicked in. Time to jet.
