Crema's Take
“This beloved Austin institution balances a casual cafe vibe with surprisingly thoughtful food, from perfectly poached eggs topping their grain bowls to fresh pastries and breakfast tacos that pair beautifully with their well-crafted coffee drinks. The laid-back atmosphere and college-aged staff create that easy-going energy Austin's known for, making it an ideal spot to linger over breakfast on a Saturday morning or catch up with friends over a leisurely pour-over. If you're looking for a place where the coffee is solid, the food actually impresses, and the vibe feels genuinely welcoming rather than fussy, Hank's delivers on all fronts.”

Ordered delivery, received a supreme pizza in the state shown in my photos. Supreme pizza had odd pink colored sauce spattered on one side unevenly. Cold and unappetizing, it looked like more the shade of pepto bismol instead of actual tomato sauce and nothing like the online photos from the restaurants Google and instagram pages. Tasted flavorless except for an oily texture, ended up trashing the whole thing. Would not recommend.
Made a reservation and waited 20 minutes before a server showed. Had to ask multiple times for simple things and both the server and the staff member delivering the food could not answer what was in the dishes. Shrimp and grits were alright, although the shrimp cakes were a bit tough. The Benedict’s were good. The quiche Lorraine was undercooked and not very tasty. The pancakes were a bit bland. Overall great pricing for dishes compared to many Austin restaurants.
my review is for the little cafe portion of hank’s as i came early on a saturday morning. it is a pleasant little spot with pastries & breakfast tacos to enjoy with your coffee. the atmosphere is simple and comfortable. a nice spot that isn’t overdone but still pleasant to be in. next time i will make sure to come a little later to enjoy the brunch.
Unexpectedly good food. We had a variety of salad and salad bowls that were good. I added a poached egg to my kale and rice bowl and was surprised at how nicely done the bowl turned out. It was very good. They also have happy hour daily after 3 pm.
Hank's has a great atmosphere and excellent staff. The drinks are well made and they have a decent selection of well priced beers, including local IPAs. Most of the staff are college aged. They're respectful and attentive. There's plenty of parking, indoor, outdoor, and bar seating. The food is okay, but certainly the low point. It's all too expensive, even during happy hour. There's really nothing special on the menu and it feels like you're being gouged. This is honestly a better quiet bar spot than restaurant.
