Civic Roasters

Crema's Take
“This Tacoma roastery is a masterclass in intentionality, from their meticulously sourced and roasted beans to their rotating roster of local artists and community pop-ups that turn the space into something beyond just a coffee shop. The espresso drinks shine whether you're grabbing a quick latte or settling in with a pour-over, while creative options like masala chai lattes and hojicha drinks show their commitment to exploring flavor beyond the usual—plus the local pastries are genuinely worth your attention. There's no WiFi by design here, which perfectly captures their ethos: they're built for real connection, whether that's between you and an exceptional cup or you and the thoughtful community gathered around you.”

Such a cute coffee shop that feels so intentional in its choices, from who they employ and invite for pop ups to how they source and roast their coffee. Perfect for social justice oriented folks who want to spend with intention and support local small businesses trying to make a difference. Shout out to their mochas! They are made with high quality dark chocolate and it shows :)
Best latte ever! Vibes 10/10 and delicious coffees all around. They have been hosting events with local artists and I picked up an awesome new piece!
Great people and great coffee! Don’t sleep on the local pastries as well. Awesome local spot to stop in for a quick cup, or stay and enjoy a pour over. There’s no WiFi, but completely by design to encourage a space for conversation and community. Highly recommend.
The masala chai latte was delicious with a little bit of spice and the hojicha latte was very flavorful and fun! My husband got a cappuccino that was delicious. If I could eat one of the chimichurri pastries everyday I would be extremely happy!
What I love about civic is how intentional it is - the coffee and the pastries and vibes are picked especially to represent a quality coffee and quality tacoma experience. Often times dabbling into third wave coffee can be filled with cold staff with an air of pretentiousness, and civic is exactly the opposite. While they are committed to whole and ethically sourced ingredients (so you won’t find your typical Starbucks flavors), they are also committed to making third wave coffee accessible to all. I also love their commitment to the community with a pay it forward option.
