Lucky Detroit Coffee Roasters & Espresso Birmingham

I am on a mission to find my favorite coffee spot. My criteria is nice atmosphere (the less industrial the better), great coffee, great service, and real mugs. Lucky Detroit Coffee Roasters is in a very cute spot. A barber shop downstairs turned into a coffee shop. It is on the darker side on the atmosphere side. The coffee was good. But they offer the coffee only in paper cups which was a disappointment.

Stopped at Lucky Duck for a coffee. The cafe is a nice size with plenty of comfort seating. I ordered a vanilla bourbon latte and it was good. They have plenty of treats to eat but I only had coffee upon my visit.

The place is cool, but hard to find as it’s inside a barbers shop, or at least thats what it seems. There’s no name outside. There’s plenty parking space behind at no cost. I ordered a capuchino and a chocolate croissant. The capuchino was tasty but tooo small 😥 and the croissant 🥐 is good but not great. The bathroom is clean.

Quad Cortado was excellent. Wife also gave 5 stars to her iced vanilla latte. Signage on building indicates BARBER SHOP so don’t be spooked. There is one inside so it’s a coffee and barber shop. Nicely decorated. Several tables to knock out some work while enjoying the beverage of your choice.

Ive been going to Lucky’s for years now, but I was caught off guard by how delicious their strawberry matcha special was this month. I have tried many an iced strawberry matcha from big city cafes but this takes the cake. The matcha syrup is a light pink color, not artificial at all, and tastes like a subtle strawberry ice cream flavor but not overpowering. I wish it came in a 64 oz size it is that good. 😭 A sweet barista who seemed new-ish with short light hair made it for me I wish I knew her name because she did amazing! I visited at 7/15/2025 at 3 PM — so management if you know who was working that day, pls tell her how talented she is 🩵
