Crema's Take
“This early-opening Sacramento spot has earned genuine affection from regulars and families alike, thanks to genuinely kind staff who've been known to comp drinks and go the extra mile. ☕ Gino’s Java – Sacramento, CA ⭐⭐⭐☆☆ We stopped by Gino’s Java for a quick coffee break and ordered two cappuccinos — unfortunately, this was one of those rare cases when the coffee just didn’t hit the mark. The flavor wasn’t pleasant, and we barely finished our drinks. If you’re looking for a place to enjoy a quality cup of coffee, this might not be the best choice. BUT — there are definitely good things worth mentioning. The outdoor seating is shaded and surrounded by greenery, which creates a refreshing, calm vibe — a great place to sit and relax away from the city buzz. 🌿 The woman at the counter was very friendly and attentive, and we noticed a steady flow of customers — not for coffee, but for food. That says a lot. We didn’t try the food, so we can’t give a full review, but seeing how many people were dining — it seems like the food here might be the real star. 🍽️ Also worth noting: the cappuccino was only $4.75, which is lower than many other places in town. So, while we wouldn’t come back for the coffee, we might stop by again to give the food a try, and we definitely appreciate the nice setting and welcoming service. 😊 NOT RECOMMENDED for coffee, but POSSIBLY worth trying for food. My family and I came here, the four of us, and the workers were friendly! We only ordered 3 drinks and 2 croissants however, they kindly gave us an extra drink, because they made a mistake in the making of one of the drinks, and extra croissant for free. Besides the service, the food and the drinks were delightful! We spent about $26 for 3 drinks, 1 croissant, and 1 more pastry but I don’t know the name of it. It’s very affordable for 5 dollars per drink and about 3 dollars for a pastry!
Very good drinks and pastries. The staff in the counter is so nice and kind that she gave us a free drink. Thank you so much! We appreciate you guys.
This was my go-to coffee shop when I worked down the street and had to come pay it a visit to have my favorite things. I really like the iced matcha and Mexican mocha. Though they are good, these drinks taste like they have a lot of sugar so I didn’t get them as often. This time I got drip coffee (Peru option) and the coffee was not good. I remember the coffee being mid (and still is) but the food is really good. My favorite thing there is the cap tower. The avocado toast is also good- I tried it during this visit and I remember it being better but it was still ok. The cap tower was delicious as usual. Another morning favorite is the morning special. I did not get it this time around but I like to order it and add bacon- so good! The service is ok you can wait a long time for food and sometimes they may forget your order (has happened to me a few times, including this time when I went). All in all I really like this place. The food is good the drinks will do and I rather support a small business than a coffee chain. Def recommend!
I’ve been meaning to check out this place for over a year now. Finally stopped in. The smell of bacon engulfed the entire area, and beckoned me it. It was a sign! :) Walked in and first impression is that the setup is a little wonky. You have one cashier who takes orders, makes coffee and hands out orders when ready. This leads to a bit of slow service. There is no number system for orders, either. So I waited around for almost 20 min for my sandwich. Next time I’ll definitely call it in. That being said, it was worth it as I was absolutely famished! There is also some outdoor seating which is nice and shaded. I got the Turkey Club on Wheat. The bacon was crispy and cooked perfectly. It was loaded too. Turkey was just ok, but there was a decent amount on the sandwich. The wheat bread was good (next time I’ll do sourdough). Condiments were fresh. The downside; there was no pickle! :( Oh well. For the price ~$10 it was worth it, and I’ll definitely be coming back.
