Crema's Take

Tucked away in Detroit, Encarnacion is a warmly run gem where Chef Mauro and owner Robert pour genuine care into every detail, from their standout signature latte to thoughtfully crafted breakfast dishes like creative sandwiches and avocado toast. The espresso-focused menu shines with both traditional Latin American flavors and innovative specialties, all served in a cozy atmosphere that feels like a welcoming refuge rather than just another coffee shop. Whether you're stopping by for a quick top-tier coffee and bagel or settling in for a leisurely breakfast with friends, the friendly team here makes you feel like a regular from the moment you walk in.

Place is hidden, but I got a coffee and bagel. The coffee was top tier and I got an everything bagel with cream cheese. It was all great, definitely will be coming back. Highly recommend this place. Owner was very nice.

My husband and I tried Encarnacion for breakfast and coffee and we loved it!! We got the Sofia and the Lox sandwiches and both had great, creative flavors. The people were extremely friendly too. Highly recommend

Cubanita approved Cuban sandwich! Chef Mauro and the team at Encarnacion have created something really special in the heart of Detroit. The attention to detail in everything they do is noted. From the unique light fixtures to the local art to the carefully plated sandwiches, it all comes together for a comforting coffee shop experience. The local coffee from Sabbath Coffee Roasters is exceptionally good. But for me, the highlight is the food. All I’ve ever wanted was a good coffee shop with great food, and that’s exactly what Encarnacion is. The star is obviously the Cuban sandwich. And I’m telling you as someone who grew eating this - this is the REAL deal. Better than some Cuban sandwiches I’ve had in my hometown of Miami. We had the honor of meeting the chef (during their soft opening) and hearing his vision and we are lucky to have such a passionate, talented chef in the city. I can’t wait to see what Encarnacion does and the dishes they delight us with. Welcome to Detroit and congratulations!

This place is amazing! Robert, the owner, is super friendly and welcoming. Their signature latte is just perfect, as well as their avocado toast. I will definitely come again.
