Flour Bakery + Cafe
114 Mount Auburn St, Cambridge, MA
Crema's Take
“This beloved Cambridge institution wins hearts with its legendary banana bread and thoughtfully crafted pastries that justify the crowds, though arriving early rewards you with fresh vegan options and the best of their rotating specials. The beautifully designed space walks a fine line between a quick grab-and-go spot and a destination for lingering over a traditional coffee and a brown butter cinnamon roll, though regulars advise being prepared for peak-hour lines and bringing patience along with your appetite. It's the kind of place that keeps you coming back despite its popularity, especially if you snag a seat and settle in with something warm.”

Food was delicious. Banan Bread is a must. Seating can a problem. Would love to visit again before I leave cambridge
I discovered Flour also has a branch in Harvard Square, making it super convenient to buy banana bread. However, this place is always crowded, with lines being a regular occurrence... Banana Bread: The brand's standardization is excellent, no different from the Fort Point store. The texture is equally soft, moist, and spongy, with the same natural and rich banana sweetness and fragrance. I packed some for my roommates to try, and they thought it was delicious too. One of them said it tasted like dates.
Nice vegan items if you get there early enough. I love the cauliflower melt too. This place could be wonderful but the tables are disgustingly filthy. I don’t understand why I should tip 25% only to have my food at a nasty table like this.
A really nice bakery and cafe located close to the Harvard square. The place is popular and gets quite busy during peak hours. It’s designed well and has a good amount of seating options as well. They also have placed their merchandise in this store. The menu is vast and offers a large variety of sweet and savory baked items, as well as sandwiches and salads. Paid street parking is available around the area but very difficult to find as it is a busy and popular touristy area.
A beautifully simple and thoughtfully decorated café. We tried the brown butter cinnamon roll and the hummus sandwich—both were perfectly balanced in flavor and generously portioned. The hummus sandwich was light, refreshing, and satisfying without being heavy. The cinnamon roll had just the right touch of sweetness with a rich, buttery finish. Bonus points for the super cute and well-curated merchandise—definitely worth browsing. A lovely spot to start your Harvard tour! It’s just minutes away from the visitor’s centre.
