Stone & Leaf Cafe
207 South Rd, Chapel Hill, NC
Crema's Take
“Stone & Leaf has captured something special in its bright, inviting space that draws people in for the atmosphere and the chance to settle in with a laptop, but the execution in the cup hasn't quite caught up with the promise. The inconsistency is real—from incorrect drink orders to varying prices for the same brewed coffee—suggesting the barista training needs work, especially since the cafe is staffed by folks transitioning from bookstore roles. If you're drawn to the cozy vibe and don't mind taking a chance on your order, it's worth a visit; just maybe stick with straightforward drinks rather than the more complex specialty options.”

I ordered a caramel macchiato and got a bitter coffee with not a single pump of caramel or even sugar. And I payed $6 for it. The least they could do is say sorry.
Place is consistently bad and staffed by bookstore employees who do not know how to make coffee. I order the same brewed coffee every time I am there and I am charged a different amount every single time.
I love the windows and the vibe but the drinks aren’t the best. One time, I ordered a matcha Frappuccino and they gave me a matcha latte with whipped cream. The lines also get super long. BUT NICE VIEWS!
I purchased 3 beverages and a 4th today. I liked coming here, but the app crashed and lost my beverage credits. The manager was incredibly rude and said she could do nothing about it, which is bogus. She could have easily credited me a free drink considering the fact that I told her about how I lost a good friend yesterday. This manager is rude, lacks sympathy, and refused to help me. I don’t recommend coming here, go to friends cafe. There are nicer people their, much better coffee, and a much nicer place to study.
I had never been to this cafe before it turned into the stone and leaf so I have nothing to compare it to. With that being said I thought it was a really nice large place to grab a drink or snack within the student store. It’s a Barnes and noble cafe essentially so expect the same type of cafe. I really liked the outdoor balcony at the end of the cafe. It’s a good spot when the weather is nice. Just be aware that you can access the internet unless you are a student.
