Monstera
3299 K St NW, Washington, DC
Crema's Take
“Monstera is a bustling neighborhood spot where stellar breakfast burritos (the Super Breakfast with chorizo and salsa verde get serious love) compete for attention with thoughtfully crafted coffee drinks that go beyond the basics. The vibe skews social and studious—heads up that laptop campers mean seating can be tight, especially on weekends when burritos are worth the 20-30 minute wait. It's the kind of place that makes DC breakfast finally feel like California, wrapped in foil and served with real care.”

Food is good without a doubt. The burritos on a Saturday will take 20-30 min. The main issue is that there is typically nowhere to sit bc students are camping out with their laptops, tablets, books, etc for hours on end with no food and empty coffee cups on their table. If it’s a nice day you can sit outside. I’ve raised this to the staff multiple times, hopefully they will enforce a no laptop policy on the weekends.
Believe the hype. The Super Breakfast burrito with chorizo tastes amazing and their salsa verde is the best I’ve ever had. I wish they had more tables to sit, yet there’s a platform with two levels of seating.
Burritos are really delicious and a perfect size. Cute little coffee shop here as well serving up the classics and some fun flavors as well. Seating inside is cute and a few picnic tables outside on the quiet sidewalk - I personally took mine across the street to the waterfront park and enjoyed the sun!
The santa barbara burrito ..delish! And spicy! But i put one less star because all the seats with tables were taken over by all the people with laptops!!! Like im sure they werent moving anytime soon. Also, the food menu was kind of hard to find as a first timer. So maybe could change that..
From the moment I unwrapped the foil on my burrito, I knew it was fire. I travel to California a lot, and have developed a taste for breakfast burritos. But until now, DC breakfast burritos have been a string of disappointments. Greasy eggs, Kraft cheese (or one step up “Mexican blend”) overcooked bacon… But Monstera made an actually good burrito. The eggs are fluffy, real crema, and an astonishingly good salsa. Holy cow. And that’s before the filling I chose - cumin eggplant - which really knocked my socks off. Good job guys. I’m writing this review because this restaurant is in a weird out of the way spot, and exceptional food should be rewarded. That being said gee whillikers these burritos are expensive. I mean, wow. $17 before avocado. It really is that scrumptious, but I’m shook.
