Crema's Take

Tucked into East 12th in a gorgeously vintage East Austin setting, this spot feels like a warm hug with its old-school diner charm and genuinely local crowd. Beyond reliable traditional and specialty coffee drinks, it's the made-from-scratch food—particularly those legendary flaky, fluffy biscuits and creative sandwiches—that keeps people coming back for both quick morning runs and leisurely Sunday brunches with loved ones. Whether you're grabbing a cartoon latte to go or settling in for a slow sit with excellent pastries and breakfast, the whole experience radiates the kind of home-cooking care that makes it feel less like a trendy spot and more like a neighborhood essential.

Lynny’s is a fantastic gem on East 12th and Chicon. Centered around a gorgeous east Austin by most of Austin’s favorites like King bee, the little gay shop and our dearly departed Outer Heaven. Most importantly the food is made with fresh ingredients and is presented with the utmost care. The wine based cocktails are beautiful pairings of homemade mixtures and the perfect wines. Attention to detail and quality are CLEARLY a staple at this place. Lyn (the owner) is incredibly sweet and made sure my brunch was fantastic. 10/10 coming back.

This is a very cute and old school feeling diner that is very trendy. This kind of place I wanted to like so much. Clearly a local place with a consistent local crowd. It wasn't too busy on a Sunday morning. We sat down, the waiter took our order. We got 2 coffees and basically had to get all of the stuff (cream, sugar, etc) ourselves or ask about it. We had to fetch our own waters too. Odd for a diner and such a small place. I assuming it was a new waiter. Not a huge deal. The food took quite a bit to come out (they have 1-2 cooks working hard), again, not a big problem, but when we got it, it was room temp, wasn't warm or hot. One of the eggs was also overcooked, wasn't runny. We were starving so we just ate it. We got 2 coffees, 2 eggs, 1 biscuit, 1 pancake (which was very small), a side, and 2 small sausages, total was $33. Steep for small portions. The menu needs to improve, there's like 10 biscuit sandwiches on the menu, and 5-7 of them are basically the same. And only like 4 breakfast plates. The biscuits are great, but are small and have a honey top which makes it a bit sugary. You can easily pay $15 for a biscuit with 1 egg, 1 piece of cheese, 1 meat of some sort. And 1 pancake, which are the smallest pancake I've seen, are $5 each. The one standout we absolutely loved was the hashbrown casserole, which besides the coffee, was the only thing that was hot. It was the least trendy thing on the menu, and it was the best. A solid 3 stars, would have been 2 if it wasnt for the casserole.

A new place that recently opened. Feels like a warm hug and home cooking with a nice twist. The food was phenomenal and the drinks were great. Come and have a great slow morning here with a loved one.

We came for lunch and enjoyed ourselves. The biscuit sandwiches were amazing! The pancakes weren’t quite what I was expecting, but the sausage was good. The cartoon latte was pretty yummy too!

This is the perfect hidden gem for a Sunday brunch outing, or even a quick coffee run. The biscuits were out of this world (flavorful, fluffy, & moist), the staff lovely, the decor matched the aesthetic perfectly, and the coffee was delicious to boot. New go to spot. Thank you Lynny’s!
