Crema's Take
“Davis Street Espresso is a beloved neighborhood gem where a skilled barista behind a beautiful lever espresso machine crafts richly flavored coffee that pairs perfectly with their house-made pastries and bread. The space has that coveted old-school coffee shop warmth—cozy and unhurried—where regulars and newcomers alike linger over carefully curated specialty drinks, though be prepared to wait for a seat during busy mornings. Their commitment to quality shines through in thoughtful details like unsweetened house-made syrups and sourcing from local farmers, making each visit feel personal rather than transactional.”

Homemade freshly baked bread, richly flavored coffee from lever espresso machine, organic product local farmers and atmosphere an old coffee shop 100% recommend.
Their coffee selection is so extensive that it is very overwhelming for a guy like me who only orders a House Brew or Americano. A guy at the counter hooked me up with the best tasting special coffee that I've ever had -- He told me the name of the coffee and explain how special it is, but unfortunately I don't remember the name. He told me his name too -- wish I could remember it so that I could mention him here now, but can't seem to remember it either -- I'm very very bad with names. They're closing, but he still told me to knock on the door if I needed anything while I was sitting outside enjoying the view of the alley. Impeccable hospitality. I took some photos. Just see it for yourself. Had a relaxing evening with a nice cup (or jar) of coffee.
Just tried this place for the first time after living in the area for a few years. Like many small coffee shops, expect to wait for a place to sit on a busy Saturday morning. This was expected so we weren’t upset by this. There was plenty of outside seating, it was just a particularly cold morning. The bread was delicious, I appreciate anywhere that offers real bread made in house. I’m docking two stars because they do not offer any alternative milks, only “local-made whole milk” which I think is a weird hill to die on and feels like some trad-wife mentality forced onto customers. I, like many people, am lactose intolerant. Opting for almond or oat milk isn’t a fad, diet, or trend I partake in. My body just won’t digest lactose. It’s very common and I think it’s inconsiderate of the owner to not offer an alternative milk option when literally every single other coffee shop in Oak Cliff does. Feels like they’re trying too hard to be different, rubbed me the wrong way. Staff was amazing, very friendly and quick. Great customer service! I would go back but I’ll have to remember to bring my digestive enzymes, which aren’t cheap :-)
Amazing and kind service, quality and flavor also great! I got a cappuccino with the house made cacao syrup(it's not sweetened!). It was delicious. I'm not a big sweets person so this was a treat tasting the cacao with the espresso. So good, if I was local I would be here often.
Atmosphere was cozy! The baked goods are made in house and look amazing, but no gluten-free options. There were only 3 syrup flavors (made in house), and NO MILK ALTERNATIVES. This was disappointing. I had a Chai that had just a smidge of milk in it (I am dairy free), and added homemade vanilla syrup. It’s delicious, but the cups were really small, especially for the price. So if you need milk alternatives I wouldn’t go here. Cute place though and the Barista was really nice.
