Crema's Take

Tucked into a charming Carytown corner, this welcoming spot nails the art of hospitality with staff who literally invite you in from the street and a thoughtfully designed space that lets you choose your vibe—cozy front room or traditional café feel in back. Their house-made lemonade is legendary (especially with a lavender shot), the lattes arrive silky and perfectly crafted, and the pastries, from buttery pistachio croissants to hand-sized chocolate chip cookies, are both generous and surprisingly affordable. It's the kind of place where excellent coffee, creative signatures like their signature lemonade, and genuine warmth make every visit feel like discovering a well-kept secret.

This was such an amazing Cary st. find. The staff quite literally waved us in from the street, everything was immaculate from the vibes to the service. I purchased the Griffin lemonade and baklava, loved them both!

This place is phenomenal. Their lemonade is absolutely the best I've ever had, especially with a shot of lavender in it. And their lattes are also just as good, very creamy n smooth. Also, their baklava?? Omg, so good. Highly recommend if you're in the area.

Lovely Brand New Coffee and Tea Shop in Carytown! The unique layout of this space has had lots of business turnover in the recent years, I’m hoping this shop is here for the long haul. They’ve made the downstairs space comfortable with thick cushions that line the walls, inviting you to sit and relax and enjoy your coffee. Great for people watching through the window too. The upstairs (no wheelchair access from what I observed) is really well designed bringing wood accents and thoughtful design choices that honors the Turkish roots. Seating available for working and catching up, I was a little cold but that could be because there were a lot of people coming in and out. Not too loud so you could hear well too. Could have stayed all day! The coffee is simply incredible. Not enough good things to say about the Husk Coffee flavor. There’s also Golden Tea that I tried that was sooo interesting and something I’ll have to order later. Assortment of Baklavas in various sizes, and I highly recommend trying it- they said the pistachios come straight from Turkey! Staff was sooo nice, talked about the shop, gave samples of coffee we hadn’t heard of (the Golden and Husk specifically) and checked in on how we liked it. Very friendly! Can’t wait to come back.

The atmosphere and the coffee are great. You have the option to sit in the front in a more homey environment if you wish, or in the back like a regular cafe. I got the pistachio croissant and the sand coffee. The croissant was flavorful, and the sand coffee was strong and smooth, just like actual Turkish coffee. It wasn't acidic or bitter, it was a perfect balance. The owner was also very attentive and made sure that we were enjoying the food, which made me feel more welcomed and like I was getting an experience that is not so typical at any other cafe in Richmond anymore, and that is providing actual customer service beyond the counter after you pay. In many cafes, once you pay they just forget about you and that's it, but at Griffin coffee, they made sure we felt welcomed and that we were enjoying the experience. 10/10 would recommend and will be coming back

The pastries here were soo yummy and cheap. I got a chocolate chip cookie and the chocolate was rich and gooey, the edges were crispy and the middle was soft & warm. It was the size of my hand for only $3!! Me and my friends also got drinks here, everything is freshly brewed and it was perfect for the transition to spring. I love this place so much! The workers were friendly and even gave us free samples so we’d get something we ACTUALLY like. 10/10 recommend :) We got 4 items for less than $15.
