Crema's Take

Nestled in Old Town Tacoma with genuine neighborhood character, this espresso-focused spot brings creative energy to traditional coffee culture and apparently features some memorable equipment (there's talk of a flamethrower involved). While service can be inconsistent, the coffee itself earns praise when done right, and the atmosphere makes it worth lingering over a breakfast sandwich and a well-crafted drink.

I’ve come here twice and both times left extremely disappointed. Service was SO slow, and the coffee was bitter and poorly made. Each time I just got a small Americano and it took 10-15 minutes to make it. On top of that, I waited at least 5 minutes at the counter before my order was even taken so in total spent around 20 minutes trying to just get a small drink. There was no one ahead of me or additional orders. I understand a wait when it’s busy, but this was just bizarre given they weren’t preparing other orders or a line.

I’ve eaten here a number of times and each time seems worse than the last. Today’s journey started with a barista who never smiled. Then my pastry was so stale that it fell apart in my hand. At least the beverage was okay but there are much better alternatives throughout the Proctor neighborhood.

Yet another reason that should be on your list for avoiding chain places. If you’re in the PNW, there’s no excuse. This is a solid little spot with a fantastic menu—and a flamethrower (check the video). Need I say more? The matcha was good and the crème brûlée was fantastic. Friendly baristas were a nice plus and they even have a changing table! Can’t say enough good stuff. Really liked this place. Pay it a visit!

This place has an old town feel. The service was not great, but the coffee was amazing. It's a good place to sit & drink your coffee or eat your breakfast sandwich.
