Crema's Take

Teixeira's is a beloved Portuguese bakery institution in Newark that's been perfecting their craft for decades, earning a loyal multi-generational following who keep coming back for their authentic egg tarts with impossibly flaky, buttery crusts and housemade empanadas. The expanded space now offers plenty of seating to linger over their distinctive iced cappuccinos and fresh pastries, making it equally suited for a quick coffee grab or a longer sit with family and friends. This is the real deal—unpretentious, affordable, and made entirely in-house by people who clearly care.

Beautiful, well kept bakery. Just stopped by for some coffee.. short on time couldn’t try different bakery stuff in here. But the iced cappuccino was really different and delicious unlike your regular Starbucks or McDonald’s

Popular Portuguese Bakery in the neighbourhood. Tried the local favourites and love the crunch. Though it would have been better if the pastry was warmer (personal preference)

I have been going to Teixeira’s for decades with my family and it never disappoints. genuinely one of the best (if not the best) bakeries in the area. since they’ve expanded there is always seating, even during the busier times. i love everything here, from the soups to the pastries, the coffee, even the toast is excellent. i strongly recommend to anyone who is curious and hungry

excellent all around. This is a local spot that cannot go wrong. The food and drinks are delicious and made in-house & affordable. I tried their chicken empanadas and fries. They’re both really great ! If there was one comment - I would ask that they have more hot sauces to dip foods. I’m definitely coming back to try their bakery items.

If you're looking for authentic Portuguese egg tarts, this is the real deal. The crust is perfectly flaky with a buttery crunch, and the custard filling is rich and just the right amount of sweet. They come out warm and fresh and even after it being in the to-go box for a bit, they're still crispy and steaming with flavor. Definitely worth the trip. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere is nice. They also have other treats but I haven't had the chance to try them yet.
