Crema's Take

Cuddy Hall Cafe is a teaching restaurant run by UAA's culinary arts students, making every visit a chance to experience thoughtfully prepared food and coffee from passionate learners still honing their craft. The vibe here is intimate and intentional—whether you're lingering over a latte with gnocchi or settling in for a leisurely breakfast—with the kind of genuine warmth that comes from a team genuinely invested in getting things right. They operate seasonally during the school year, so reservations fill fast, but that exclusivity only adds to the appeal of catching this gem while it's open.

The culinary arts students at UAA have a restaurant where they put their learned knowledge to the test in a restaurant setting called Lucy's. It was a delicious 3-course lunch with a salad, entree, and a dessert buffet. You get to give feedback to the students afterwards so they can improve. Awesome food and atmosphere to enjoy with friends at the end of the Spring semester. You must sign up and reserve online.

The culinary department developed a Cannabis class called CannaBasics. It’s hands down the best class I have ever taken at UAA. I am looking forward to UAA being more progressive and offering more classes of this kind.

Loved the experience here today. I’m glad they are open for the semester. Today, after ordering a lovely latte, I had gnocchi to start, it was so good I got a second gnocchi to take home. Then a beet salad with goat cheese, candied pecans, and a balsamic dressing - ever so tasty. It was a snowy day so I added a hearty bowl of chicken noodle soup. I then enjoyed the most delicious tender filet mignon (I could have cut it with my fork - I tried just to see if I could). The filet was heaven in each bite to this carnivorous omnivore! I was fully satisfied but had to order dessert, I ordered two because life is short and I couldn’t decide between the Chai cake with pumpkin mousse or the Citrus and honey dessert. The Chai & Pumpkin was light and flavorful - like a bite of the winter holidays! I took a bite of the Citrus & Honey - tart and creamy on a cookie - very tasty but had to take it home to eat later.

Wonderful place to take cooking and baking classes at UAA. Fun professors and excellent classes. Culinary classes are offered for both culinary and non-culinary students. I would highly recommend the experience if you want to expand your skills in cake decorating, baking, or cooking world cuisine.

Lucy's is now open during the second half of each semester and it's great to see them open again. As always, reservations go lightning fast! I love that the students not only prepare and serve everything, but they also work together to create the stellar menu. Going to Lucy's is a major treat and it's great to support such an incredible group of talented culinary students!
