Cayo Hueso Cafe
Key West, Key West, FL
Crema's Take
“Perched right on Key West's beach, Cayo Hueso Cafe is a rare spot where you can grab specialty drinks and light bites with your toes practically in the sand—though fair warning, the convenience and location come with prices to match. The café has built a loyal following over the years with solid coffee drinks and sandwiches, though recent reviews suggest service can be inconsistent depending on who's behind the counter. If you're seeking a leisurely seaside coffee moment with a tropical vibe, the outdoor seating and specialty drink menu are worth a visit, just manage your expectations around peak hours.”

It’s the only place on the beach where you are able to get food and snacks so take it as it is. Food and drinks are okay and priced a little high for my taste. If you are only going this place serve everything then make it more affordable for everyone. You are allowed to drink your own drinks and food to this beach and cook it on the grill provided you are able to get one. Plenty of parking shouldn’t be a problem
0/100 I’m a courteous and respectful man. I don’t start trouble. But the way my wife and three boys were spoken to and treated here today crossed my line. Had it not been such a public place, perhaps we might’ve come to a different understanding. Clearly this will be lost on ya'll, but folks come from all over the world to experience the place y’all get to work at. Yet somehow we’re the ones showing respect while its the opposite of reciprocated. Folks, if you have any self respect and want to enjoy your time, pack a lunch or eat literally anywhere else first.
I have been going to Cayo Hueso for more than ten years and have always enjoyed their tasty sandwiches and really excellent service. Not so this time. This past Monday, 12/8, I ordered a couple of simple hot dogs (and at $7.50 each expected them to be good). I asked if they could be made well-done, while they don't have a grill they do have a microwave. They could have easily heated them up, but instead the Asian counter girl actually showed me a container of several "cooked" hot dogs to show me what they looked like. There clearly was a language problem, as she never really grasped what I was asking for. When my order came out, the inside of the hot dogs was barely warm. They were awful, but I had already left the place so I didn't return. The manager of Cayo Hueso has an excellent reputation and is very well thought of, but the two ladies she left to run things on that day were clueless and had serious communication issues.
Terrible service from Christian — I do not recommend buying anything from him. He was very rude and impolite. I bought one drink, tried it, and then asked to order another one. He acted like I was bothering him — as if he was giving it to me for free. I’m paying with my own money, and he’s still annoyed? Definitely don’t leave him a tip — he doesn’t deserve it. There used to be a lady named Natalia before — she was very kind and welcoming. Completely different experience with her.
Rude. Rude dude. Rude service. One guy with black hair - Wanted to charge me for the water I just purchased. Rude. Then I came back a few hours later for a cocktail🍹and he was rude again when I asked if there was alcohol in the slushie or did I get a virgin? Because I didn’t taste alcohol. His response: Must’ve been a good drink if you can’t taste the alcohol. Umm, no. That’s not how it works. You should be able to taste some alcohol. Then he asked if I wanted to purchase an additional shot. I said, no thank you. So rude. You don’t have to treat tourists rudely because you’re unhappy at your job. Get another job. The beach was lovely. The bathrooms were surprisingly clean. And my husband had a pulled pork where they smashed the bun flat, which was odd but it was good even being a little on the sweet side. The location was the best part about this place.
