Crema's Take

Stable Hand is an upscale, espresso-focused spot along Charlotte's light rail greenway where you can linger over meticulously crafted coffees and hearty breakfast fare like savory porridge and perfectly-stacked avo toast. The baristas and owner are genuinely hospitable—the kind of place that'll stay open a few extra minutes for you—creating a cozy, unique atmosphere that's equally great for a solo coffee moment or meeting up with friends. It's the rare coffee shop that takes both its pull shots and its food seriously, delivering consistently solid espresso drinks alongside creative breakfast plates that'll keep you coming back.

I took a nice walk along the light rail greenway from Puttery to grab a cup. Although our group did arrive at closing time, the barista and owner were accommodating and allowed us to hang for a little bit away from the elements while they closed up and even had some cold brew to offer. We chatted a bit to ask more about the business and to figure out our next plans and saw they had games and wine too. It was a stylish spot with interesting art and design work. We will have to return when they are open!

Nice cozy coffee spot, the savory porridge is fantastic, of course the chorizo is a flavor bomb but the wilted greens were a phenomenal dark horse addition! Avo toast was big and full of flavor! Chandler, the owner, came over and chatted me up, very nice guy, attentive staff, good business to give your dollars to!

Order: draft vanilla latte ($6) and bacon egg and cheese on brioche ($7), chapstick included in picture for scale. The coffee here is always good, but the food can be a hit or miss. The last time I stopped in, it was between 9-10am and was told “the kitchen is taking a break because it has been really busy with food” so it was unavailable for an undetermined amount of time. The sandwich I received today tasted good, but for $7 it was very small. I was also sad to see that they no longer offer the chorizo biscuit! Service is typically quick but seating is taken up fast by people on their computers, so get in early if you want to hang out.

Stable Hand was a cool, upscale coffee shop! I just got a black coffee, which is admittedly hard to screw up, but it was still pretty good, the staff was friendly, and the ambiance was very unique, even for the standards of coffee shops. I don’t if it’s the kind of coffee shop that I would go to to study, but I’d love to meet some friends there sometime. Would recommend!

The food was tasty. Could use a little more seasoning for my personal preference, but I still really liked it. Coffee was tasty and the vibes were great. Staff was nice and informative. I’m excited to come back and sip some wine on the little patio area. **edit: Came back again and enjoyed the avocado toast with a soft egg and their lemonade. Pricey in my opinion for avocado toast, but it was delish.
