Crema's Take
“Bernice's Bakery is a Missoula institution that's earned its loyal following through consistently excellent coffee and genuinely impressive baked goods, with a particular strength in custom cakes and pastries that locals trust for special occasions. The riverside location near the Clark Fork makes it as much a destination for a leisurely Sunday morning as it is a quick weekday coffee stop, and the welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere keeps people coming back across generations.”

I so wish there were a healthy bakery in town that does not use artery clogging vegetable oils, white sugar and white flour that is horrible for the body, why cant people bake with coconut sugar and coconut oil, how about honey or molasses instead of the bad ingredients, we should all want healthy treats without all the bad ingredients. If a person can bake it at home why cant anyone do HEALTHY ever at a bakery. They charge so much fo their cakes, I guess GFS isnt healthy either, since they sell their cakes there.
Bernice’s bakery has been a family favorite for decades. It’s a great place to meet for a coffee, tea, or baked good and a walk along the Clark Fork River. If you’re staying in an Airbnb or hotel in the area - Bernice’s is the perfect place to start your day. They have two rooms with filled with cozy seating - as well as outdoor seating in a quaint little nook of benches and flower boxes along third street. If you’re visiting the area - access to the river path is towards the Higgins Street Bridge. Bernice’s is also an excellent place to go for a high-end birthday cake. Today we went to Bernice’s to celebrate a family birthday. The cakes are different than you’ll find at other local bakeries. They have unique flavors and styles of decorating. Chocolate cake with buttercream frosting and layered with caramel pecan filling was the highlight of today’s celebration. Wow. Beautiful and delicious! We usually order cakes to go and didn’t know they have a cutting fee - so if you’re cutting the cake at Bernice’s, make sure to communicate that! Their coffee and espresso have a rich flavor void of any bitterness. They also offer unsweetened matcha tea for the green tea connoisseurs - and have a variety of syrup flavors you can add for excitement. A picture of the cake and a slice are attached. They have a variety of delicious cupcakes on a daily basis, as well. Bernice’s Bakery is highly recommended!
My husband and I have been enjoying going to Bernice’s on the weekend, usually Sunday’s. We keep coming back because we receive good service and excellent coffee. However, this last experience was bad enough that I feel compelled to say something. We first greeted with “who’s next?” From the gal at the cash register. Her tone was not friendly. We submitted our orders - 2 Lattes. We cleaned our table and sat down. The wait was long, but finally, our order showed up. The wait was long and my husband’s latte was extremely bitter. I went to purchase him another, to make up for the burned one. My experience with coffee tells me the shot sat too long. However, when the second one arrived, the individual dropped it next to the untouched, burned latte, and didn’t acknowledge it. Sadly, the second latte was just as bitter. Oddly, mine was very good, as it usually is. In my experience of enjoying Bernice’s Bakery, this is an isolated experience. I am hoping this review will be used for teaching.
We loved working with Bernice’s Bakery for our wedding! We ordered a 9-inch cake and cupcakes, and they were both absolutely delicious and beautiful. The whole process was seamless, and the team was always kind, responsive, and incredibly helpful. Everything turned out just as we’d hoped. We fully recommend Bernice’s Bakery to anyone looking for amazing desserts and great service!
i was in missoula and looking for something healthy and online reviews said to check out Bernice’s so I did. I went with colleagues and one got the soup and i got the hummus plate. the soup was cold and tasted more like a gazpacho or salsa and the hummus plate had hummus, chips and a macaroni salad. the prices for the meals was very good as it was cost effective and the portion size decent. the flavor was average good price, decent portion, mild flavor
