Colectivo Coffee Foundry
170 S 1st St, Milwaukee, WI
Crema's Take
“This Milwaukee institution transforms a historic foundry into a serene yet vibrant gathering space with soaring ceilings, exposed beams, and thoughtful design that somehow feels both hip and genuinely cozy. Their espresso-focused menu shines with creative signature drinks like the smoked vanilla mocha alongside reliable classics, while their full breakfast and light food offerings, including standouts like the Sunshine Maple Sausage, make it an ideal spot to linger with your laptop or meet a friend. The raw industrial bones of the original building meet warm wood and plants to create an unexpectedly peaceful refuge from the bustling city just beyond the windows.”

#RI8I 3/6/26 I have been a coffee consumer for some time now, and I visit a select group of coffee shops in Milwaukee. Today, I visited the 170 S 1st Street location and ordered one of my usual orders: an iced cardamom honey latte with sweet cold foam on top. This is one of the drinks I often order. I was told I could not add sweet foam to the drink. I was surprised because I have ordered this many times before, and I'm always willing to pay extra if needed. When I explained to the cashier that if she looked at my profile, I get this drink a lot, she told me that as a customer, we can't add any extras to their signature drinks. This is very disappointing, and nowhere in the coffee shop does it state this. If I'm a paying customer, order a drink, and ask for caramel, Splenda, or an extra shot of espresso, why can't I add sweet cold foam? Is what she is saying accurate? Is it posted anywhere? Is this the practice for all Colectivo Coffee shops?
My daughter gave this coffee place a million and 5 thumbs up!! The Sunshine Maple Sausage was absolutely delicious. It was a great first stop for our Milwaukee tour
Service was super slow and staff seemed stressed out and just didn’t want to be there. Ordered a cheese and egg sandwich which was excellent though. However, also got a butter croissant which was almost rubber - definitely not fresh and seemed like left over from the previous day. They really shouldn’t sell items that aren’t fresh.
I have always loved this coffee shop. Built in what was originally a foundry in the historic Fifth Ward, the postindustrial design is noted, with high ceilings, exposed beams and ductwork, etc. There is free parking in back (“Parking for tenants and customers of 140 and 170 South 1st Street”). The espresso is perfect, especially long draw. Lots of seating options. Exceptional service. Highly recommend.
Love the atmosphere. Hip and yet comfy cozy. Lots of wood and plants. Very peaceful. Got the smoked vanilla mocha to try something new. Very good. With the city bustling outside (good views!), the inside is chill and relaxed even when it's busy. ☕️ Enjoy!
