Afternoon tea is wonderful here. They truly make every dish a work of art. I love the decor and the food was absolutely fantastic. They were careful to ask about allergies and happy to accommodate with last minute changes. Love this place!

Absolutely loved our visit today! The space is beautiful and cozy, with such a peaceful, homey vibe. It felt like stepping into a little fairytale in the middle of Ferndale! My girlfriend and I got the Orchid tea which included each of us choosing our own pot of tea, 3 little sandwiches, and a dessert, and everything was both stunning and delicious. I got the Green Spiced Chai and my partner got the Butterfly Pea tea, and we got two little blueberry scones when they came that were still warm. Both were delicious! (The Butterfly one changed colors from blue to pink!) The sandwiches were an English cucumber sandwich with dill dressing on white bread, chicken salad on an apple slice, and a tomato bruschetta flatbread. It looks small but it was actually so filling I could barely finish my lemon bundt cake… but I did because it was too good to not! You can tell a lot of care goes into the details here, from the presentation to the flavors to the atmosphere. It was such a perfect spot for a little date. We’ll definitely be back!

My husband booked us the Afternoon Tea for my birthday and it did not disappoint! We went during the middle of the day so we had the place to ourselves!! Our host started us with blueberry scones and fresh cream with our teas and I could've eaten 10 more they were so delicious! Our first course was Italian wedding soup, then a fresh spring salad with raspberry vinaigrette, then we had an assortment of tea sandwiches and finished with a fruit compote and lemon pound cake. The service was amazing!! This is a family friendly establishment- we brought our 7 month old who sat on our laps during our time and who had a great time along with us. We will be returning again and again.

Excellent experience! I went here with 4 of my girlfriends and had a wonderful time. The decor was colorful, elegant, and eclectic. I was afraid the food wouldn't be enough, but it was surprising filling. It came with 2 pots of tea, a scone, 3 tea sandwiches, and a lemon pound cake for dessert. All presented beautifully and with high quality. For someone who appreciates the details of the atmosphere of a place and the tasty food, this is the place to go!

A great experience! With the closure of many tea rooms across Michigan, my friends and I researched places that were still operating, and we found Purple Door Tearoom. This was a new place for us and it won't be our last time visiting! The seating room had plenty of natural light, plenty of options for self seating, unique furniture and decorative pieces, as well as beautiful place settings and china. The food was fantastic! Everything was homemade and made to order, so it was fresh and delicious! Having a mixture of hot and cold sandwiches was a pleasant option and the fruit cup did not disappoint! And their humming bird cake was the best I've had by far! The service was incredible, it was white gloved and the staff were polite and worked fast to provide refreshments and refills. Samples of tea were also given to us to take home. They also offered to take photos for us! The price for the experience was well worth it and more affordable than other hotel offered afternoon teas. Reccomend for lunch with a friend or your next event!
