Cup A Joe
3100 Hillsborough St, Raleigh, NC
Crema's Take
“This beloved Raleigh institution has earned its reputation as a genuine college-town staple, where a perfectly pulled espresso and fresh jalapeño cheddar bagel feel like coming home. The coffee here is unapologetically strong and expertly crafted—whether you're grabbing a signature pour over or settling in with your laptop for hours—and the early-opening hours plus welcoming atmosphere make it the kind of place that builds real memories. While experiences vary with the staff, the consistently packed house of regulars speaks to something special happening in this space: genuine specialty coffee culture mixed with the kind of casual, affordable comfort that keeps people coming back.”

Cup A Joe will always be a special place for me. The coffee is strong and definitely what got me through college haha. It’s one of those classic Raleigh spots that brings back so many good memories.
Best cup of coffee in Raleigh! But….. RUDEST staff. When I had a question about my drink, she said “well that’s just how we make it.” I said well I’ve had it differently when I’ve come here before She screamed “well I’m sorry. I’m sorry. If you don’t like it don’t come back.” When we asked for her name, she refused to tell us. To be fair, the other staff was pretty kind. The manager kindly remade my drink
Wow. Amazing spot - just what you want a coffee and bagel spot to be in a college town. The jalapeño cheddar bagel was superb; fresh, chewy, perfectly balanced interior/exterior. The staff was so friendly and the service was quite fast for such a line.
This is my favorite café near NC State. As soon as you walk in, the smell of freshly brewed coffee fills the space. The staff are always very friendly. I actually do not drink coffee, and I usually order matcha or Thai tea instead, and they are always great. It is a comfortable place to sit down, do your work, and spend a few relaxing hours. I really enjoy the calm and cozy atmosphere here. Their breakfast croissant is also delicious. The simple combination of ham and cheese is flavorful and satisfying. I have been back many times and will definitely keep coming.
Great spot! Stopped by on a summer weekend morning and was pleasantly surprised it wasn’t too busy. The coffee is strong, flavorful, and very affordable—exactly what I needed. Chill vibe, friendly staff, and quick service.
