Crema's Take

This beloved Brazilian bakery captures the warmth of a neighborhood gathering spot where locals linger over excellent traditional coffee and some of Newark's finest pastéis de nata—crispy-crusted Portuguese custard tarts that rival Lisbon originals. Beyond the coffee, Nova Alianca draws a devoted crowd with its rotating lunch buffet of homestyle Brazilian dishes, generous portions at fair prices, and an unpretentious family-friendly atmosphere that keeps people coming back for both the food and the genuine hospitality.

What to expect

Classic coffee drinks done right. A slow-sit spot, good for meetings. Pastries and light food on the menu. Family friendly.

Enjoyed the lunch buffet. Food was delicious. Very reasonably priced, charged 9.00 per lb. Was told by the coworkers who I ate with there is something different every day. Will definitely go back!
