Zuzu’s Petals
801 E 3rd St, Long Beach, CA
Crema's Take
“Tucked into a humble Long Beach corner, Zuzu's Petals punches way above its weight with thoughtfully crafted beverages and surprisingly excellent baked goods that taste nothing like they came from a grocery store shelf. The intimate, cute setup creates a genuinely happy vibe where attentive servers and great music make lingering over coffee feel like the whole point, even if you'll need to hunt someone down when you need a refill. It's the kind of place where the care in every cup and pastry more than makes up for the tight parking situation outside.”

I have to give this place a perfect score in all categories, although it’s in a humble location and it’s small they have excelled at making food and beverages taste great and satisfying. I love how they don’t have pesky waiters and the ordering process is fast casual. No pretense just great food and service. As far as pricing goes... food of this quality in a normal classy restaurant would easily cost twice as much, my wife and I will definitely be dining here again soon.
Great atmosphere with a genuinely happy vibe throughout. The servers were attentive and welcoming. The baked goods were surprisingly good—definitely didn’t taste like day-old, grocery-store pastries. There were plenty of seating options, and it wasn’t overly crowded. We ordered the sweet potato pancakes, which did not disappoint—such a unique idea and executed perfectly. The breakfast burrito listed four eggs, which instantly sold me, and wow—it was massive!
The setup here is cute. It’s a smaller place. The workers were nice. No one checks on you though. You have to find some one when you need something. The music was great!!!! A nice blend and a lot of good old school music, 10 out of 10. The food was more just plain for the flavor profile with the exception of the fried chicken. The fried chicken with the chicken and waffles was very good!!!! I ordered sweet potato pancakes, eggs, and bacon. The pancakes were not very good for me. The eggs were ok and the bacon was extra salty. My meal cost $40. I brought my own water. I would go back for the chicken & waffles minus the blueberries. I wouldn’t get what I chose again though. Wonderful atmosphere though.
We weren’t sure about the parking situation, but we were able to find a spot a couple of blocks away and walked. There was a line of people at the restaurant, and there was a signage as to how to order, pay and find a seat. We probably waited 10-15 minutes (it wasn’t a long wait), placed our orders, pay and looked for a table of three. An employee who clean the tables offered to help us create a nice space for us with a four-legged companion. We were in a shaded (umbrella) and sat comfortably until our food was served. It looked good, and as I had the first bite,I knew I had a winner! My breakfast sandwich had a perfect combination of texture (bread, crispy bacon, fried eggs-runny yolks, aioli avocado sauce.) I would order it again!! The sandwich was filling, and I could only eat a half and had the rest to go.
Parking is always a challenge in downtown Long Beach-- just give yourself an extra 10-15min. Wait in line wasn't too bad, about 15-20min. Ordered the Skilet, without the potatoes (I'm on keto) and the Chagaccino which is made with monkfruit sweetner--totally keto friendly! Food was absolutely scrumptious, worth the wait! Service was excellent, warm, wonderful staff. Welcoming ambiance, 1950s music set the atmosphere for lively banter! :)
