Crema's Take

This Grosse Pointe location brings the warm, neighborhood-coffee-shop energy that made Lucky Detroit a beloved destination for serious coffee lovers, with a thoughtfully curated selection of espresso drinks and pour overs alongside quality pastries and light fare. The spacious, modern-meets-comfortable seating makes it equally suited for a solo work session or catching up with friends, and you'll find the staff genuinely invested in their craft and in remembering regulars. While their coffee quality can shine brilliantly, the experience here is really about the care that goes into both the drinks and the space itself.

First time in Grosse Pointe, MI downtown and found a lovely coffee shop with great coffee and pastry selections. Enjoyed every second and every drop. Great place for family and friends to get together and catch up. If you see them, stop by and enjoy... and you're welcome!

Lucky used to be a staple in our house. We made special trips to go pick up beans from their locations as we do not live close to any of them. For a time we attempted to order online but that proved to be inadequate. Shipping costs for starters were high then it took several weeks to ship and usually only shipped after I followed up then it magically just shipped that day then when I finally got them they were incorrect or missing bags.. never providing tracking information. So we stopped with that and would just pick them up when we could go in person. Over time they stopped roasting all the types of beans along with my favorites but I would still pick up the ones my husband liked. Quality of those started to vary as well with the roast being inconsistent. The last time I purchased two bags of beans and went to open them and they were rancid. The color was nearly grey and the smell was terrible. This was in both bags. I attempted to reach out to customer service twice via email with no response after over a week. I took to Instagram and sent a direct message. I eventually got a reply on there and I offered to resend the email with photos. I never got a single response from any of the emails. When I followed up again on IG the reply was that they sent me more bags. I was confused because they never said that or asked for my address to do that since I bought these in person so that wasn’t true.. I followed up 3 more times over the course of a month even offering to come pick up new bags in person but it was not being confirmed so I was not about to drive out there and them not be aware of this when I arrived. It would take several days to get any reply and the replies were vague. The final reply was that they sent new bags back in December.. I never got them and my request for a tracking number was ignored as was my message that i didn't get them. With that we are done with Lucky Detroit. We enjoyed stopping here when in Detroit to go to a game and I made it part of my trip when down there for work but no more. The prices are high so for almost 60 dollars to get me rancid beans and no quality control is just too much.

I travel for work so I'm always looking for new coffee shop experiences. This place is fantastic! It's a great location and has a good selection of coffee options. The decor is a good mix of modern and vintage. They've done a really nice job with the atmosphere.

Great seating with perfect employee service. However, the drinks were not as great. The Chai Latte was just milk, syrup, and spice. No tea (Chai means tea, so I don't know what's up with that). The coffee was okay.

A fantastic coffee spot! Don't even think about going to the nearby Starbucks. Amber is great and all of the staff are so nice and happy. They know your name, the coffee is great. Food is really good. But the most important thing is that it seems like the people really like working here. Thanks.
