Crema's Take

3B Bagels is a no-frills bagel shop where East Coast transplants finally find the real deal they've been missing in Montana, with reviewers consistently praising the quality and authenticity of their bagels at around $2.50 each. The spot excels as a quick morning grab with friendly staff and a family-friendly vibe, though service can be inconsistent and the kitchen could use some attention to cleanliness and operational flow. Come early, grab a bagel sandwich, and enjoy what locals who know genuine bagels say is the best option in the state.

We finally stopped in to pick up a half dozen bagels to take home for later. I’m from the east coast AND Jewish, and these are the best bagels I’ve had in Montana since moving to the state 10 years ago.

The overpowering smell of old grease should have stopped me, but no- I decided to push through. Or maybe the emptiness of the business- but no, I chalked it up to it being past the morning rush. My roommate ordered a reasonably priced bagel w/ cream cheese. I went with an avocado, tomato breaky burrito. I was pretty hungry - def ready to eat- so the bar was low. Unfortunately, not low enough. The first bite was one bite too many. The taste of old grease was obviously where the stench was coming from. The amount of money I spent on a greasy egg wrap ( with little else in it) was highly disappointing. It was almost impossible to rewrap it, too, bc the imitation aluminum foil ripped easier than thin tissue paper. My roommate had no complaints with subpar bagel. He stuffed the uneaten “ burrito” into his bagel bag and we left. I considered the possibility of giving my sad investment to my dogs- but I like them too much. It just went to the compost. No- I didn’t complain to the young lady behind the counter, she was kind and didn’t come off as the right one to approach with the issue. The loud voices coming from the kitchen area seemed ( to me) to be of the same position as the gal up front ( taken greatly from their topics of conversation easily heard at our table while waiting). I do not recommend trying something new at these prices. Stick with known local places, worthy of whatever price paid.

Food was good, staff was friendly. The seating area and what I could see of the kitchen appears to be clean. Bagels are about $2.50 each, and most sandwiches are over $10. The have the full range of coffee drinks and teas. The water dispenser was empty and there weren't any cups left, so I had to ask, but no big deal. Several vegetarian options. Comfortable seating area. Worth a try if you are in the area.

**Apparently I Interrupted Their Social Hour ☕️** I'm someone who almost always tips, but not this time. When I walked in, the cashier was deep in conversation and couldn't be bothered to acknowledge my existence 🙃 I stood there waiting, browsing the menu to decide what I wanted, and continued waiting... and waiting. Over 10 minutes passed—I literally started looking at other restaurants nearby during the wait—before she finally excused herself from her riveting conversation to take my order. Immediately after, she went right back to chatting. They're probably still having that conversation right now 😂💀💀💀 The complete lack of attention to customers was unacceptable. I left no tip, which is extremely rare for me. Should've checked the reviews first - lesson learned! 📚 Oh, and the burrito? Lazy and salty. Just like the service. 🌯🧂

This place has to step up the game. We were excited to try this place. Horrible experience. Took forever to get sandwiches and they served people who put their order in after us before us. Bagels seemed like they were from 3 days ago, veggies not fresh. Cheap, cold bacon. On top of all that it was $30 for 2 sandwiches. This place will fail if they don’t step up the game since there are so many better options in downtown.
